LOOKING AHEAD

The West Seattle Grand Parade and Float Dodger 5K this Saturday (July 22) will close California SW for several hours, morning to early afternoon, from Admiral to Edmunds, as well as some side streets. Take the no-parking signs seriously – violators will be towed.

TRANSIT TODAY

Metro – Back to regular schedules – check here for advisories. Note extra C and H Line trips for this weekend’s Taylor Swift concerts.

Water Taxi – Also planning extra late-night runs for this weekend’s concerts. Regular service today, though.

Washington State Ferries – 2-boat service. Check Vessel Watch to see where the boats are.

SPOTLIGHT TRAFFIC CAMERAS

Delridge cameras: Besides the one below (Delridge/Henderson), cameras are also up at Delridge/Genesee, Delridge/Juneau, Delridge/Orchard, and Delridge/Oregon.

High Bridge – the main camera:

High Bridge – the view from its southwest end (when SDOT points the 35th/Avalon/Fauntleroy camera that way):

Low Bridge – east-end vicinity:

1st Ave. S. Bridge – alternate route across the river:

Highway 99: – northbound side at Lander.

MORE TRAFFIC CAMS: See all working traffic cams citywide here, most with video options; West Seattle and vicinity-relevant cameras are on this WSB page.

BRIDGE INFO: The @SDOTBridges Twitter feed shows whether the city’s movable bridges are opening for vessel traffic.

If you see trouble on the bridges/streets/paths/bay, please text or call us (when you can do it safely, and after you’ve reported to authorities). Thank you!

While not supposed to affect air quality the high smoke today from the SW Oregon wildfire will make for a colorful sunset.

Any idea on what time California will close on Sat morning? We live just off the parade route and want to get out of town before it. :)

      L. Past commenter said 9am. The road closed sign should also have a time on it. Then it all depends when parking/police come through to ticket and when tow trucks show up.

I have the information, it’ll all be in the next parade preview later today. From parade team: “Street Closed Signs start to be staged as early as 6 am, Seattle Police starts to fully close California AVE SW at 8 am between Admiral Way SW and SW Edmunds Street, phased closure that is fully complete by 9 am”

Around 1pm, there was a police officer taking photos of a car in the westbound lane of Genesee, at 26th Ave SW. Any idea what happened there?  There wasn’t a driver/ occupant around, the car was angled like it had started to drive onto the sidewalk.  Hope folks are alright. Didn’t see anything on the 911 log.

Just listed as traffic stop, initiated by officer. (Yes, despite some commenters’ claims to “never” having seen police pull anyone over, they DO.) Don’t know why and won’t be able to try to find archived audio until I dig out from under an avalanche of other things, but will add if I do.

Sorry, comment time is over.
