READER REPORT: Fighting back at Solstice Park

If you play tennis at the Solstice Park courts (near the north end of Lincoln Park), you know they’ve been hit repeatedly by vandalism, particularly tagging. Chris just sent the photo and report of one person’s way of fighting back. Chris says the artist, James Egan, is a local attorney who told him he paints “to relieve stress.”

I’m starting to think we need to create our own group of graffiti fighters. It’s apparent the city is understaffed and rolling up my sleeves to cover up this urban blight would make me happy.

Awesome! Thanks James for your passion and initiative to help make the courts at Solstice better.  Lots of people who hit against that wall or use those courts will enjoy your work.

I use that hitting wall regularly and the moulding you tacked onto the wall creates problems.

I hope somebody doesn’t think that’s a real net and tries to jump it (like the Road Runner painting a fake tunnel for the Coyote to run into).

Curious.  Who’s doing the graffiti? Local kids? “outsiders?”.

I wanted to buy him lunch (and energy bars)  at that time but he kindly turned me down because he wanted to finish the project butI am so glad he took my rain check offer of me buying him lunch.I gave him 2 bottles of “pure organic” water .This show how dedicated he is and so damn focus on finishing the project.
