HAPPENING NOW: End-of-school-year street party west of The Junction

Thanks to David for the photo of the all-dad band DAD, performing right now on 48th Avenue SW west of The Junction. It’s the second year that they’ve closed the street (with permits) for an end-of-school-year party. They’re scheduled to play until about 10 pm, and you’re welcome to go join the party. They’re collecting donations for the PTA at West Seattle’s most-populous elementary, Genesee Hill.

Although I appreciate their cause… maybe in the future the band can stop playing a little earlier. Some of us do have to work in the morning..I live at 50th and Alaska I had to close my bedroom window because the music woke me.

I heard the band, too- and I really enjoyed them! They were great. I’m surprised people would complain about a great band playing for free until 10pm- ONCE A YEAR.

get over yourself! Close your window! It’s once a year, until 10pm on a Friday night! It wasn’t even totally dark yet!? So many people and kids were out there having a fun wholesome time- so try and be happy about ..anything.

Had to be up in our house at 4:25 AM this morning.  Only a block away, but HEY….it’s summer and it only happens once a year.  We’ll all survive.  Wish the music had been a little more to my taste though.

AR above points out that West Seattle Summer Fest will have live music in The Junction. For anybody new to the area, this year that’s Friday and Saturday night, July 14-15 (the festival ends at 5 pm Sunday 7/16), with music until about 11 pm.  – TR

Couple of blocks away and we heard the sounds of the frivolity clearly.  They stopped when they were supposed to and cleaned up.  We also hear the sounds of kids at Ercolini drifting our way on warm days.  I love these sounds of joy and celebration.  This is a great neighborhood!!

If the dads are going to do this every year, I hope there’s more of an announcement on the blog prior to this event. I’m sad I missed it and would’ve loved to have brought friends along. We need more if this type of entertainment in our hoods. West Seattle rocks.

Also- if there’s any video from last nite. I’d love to hear some stuff if it can be posted here.
