As first reported here August 2nd, Seahawks star Richard Sherman‘s first Wingstop opened earlier this month at Westwood Village, and a “grand opening” was planned this weekend. We checked back yesterday but aside from some freebies (5 free wings per person until 6 today and again 1-6 tomorrow), they had no official word on if or when Sherman himself might turn up. This afternoon, he did make an appearance, as evidenced by his Instagram selfie published around mid-afternoon.

Meantime, in The Junction …

Musicians from two legendary rock bands visited Thunder Road Guitars (WSB sponsor) on Friday, and TRG’s Instagram feed showed the proof. Cheap Trick was in the area for a concert last night in Auburn.

It was a sea of blue and green outside the Wingstop at Westwood Village. Probably close to a hundred people at a time in the area outside of Wingstop / 24 Hour Fitness / Bed Bath and Beyond. Sherman was outside signing autographs, taking photos, and talking to the crowd. He seemed genuinely happy and excited. His fiancĂ©, mom, and brother were also there to support him. A DJ was also playing music in the courtyard. It was a great scene! When I walked by to see the commotion, I also noticed Bobby Wagner there. *swoon* Though I didn’t want to wait around for a photo or autograph, I enjoyed the moment in my neighborhood.

Wingstop has some good fried chicken too.  I think it’ll be a bonus to have the new Wingstop at that spot too.  Great for families, good food, good prices and great to know Sherman is behind it too.  It’s a positive addition to Westwood Village.
