TRAFFIC/TRANSIT TODAY: Monday alerts; Metro reminder; looking ahead…

(Four WS-relevant views; more cams on the WSB Traffic page)
6:45 AM: Good morning! The new week is off and running. Notes and reminders:

NEW METRO SCHEDULE: Changes, additions, and restorations took effect on Saturday. (Here again is our list of the key West Seattle points.)

47TH/ADMIRAL SIGNAL, FINAL PHASE: Could start as soon as today, per SDOT’s announcement last week; we’ll be checking.

LOOKING AHEAD TO NEXT SATURDAY: Road closures on Highway 99 as part of the Seattle Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon and Half-Marathon. Northbound 99 is set to be closed 5 am-3:30 pm from S. Hudson (which is south of the West Seattle Bridge) to Roy St. (lower Queen Anne) – here’s the full list of closures.

7:33 AM: As the “Shell No” group had demonstrated at Marginal/Spokane again on Saturday and mentioned plans for today on its website, we just went by to check – nobody in view as of 7:30 am. Another note: Fog on the water, and we just heard a foghorn sounding from the Fauntleroy ferry dock vicinity, so if you’re traveling by water this morning, might be some effects.

Apparently the first 57 time also changed though nothing is on metro website.

So much for making the schedule for the 21X more reliable. This morning’s run was 10 minutes late. Yes it is normal for it to run a little behind. But 10 minutes is more behind than usual.

ws1 – the 56 and 57 were ones listed as getting the improved reliability but no specifics on what that meant (and no one knew the answer to that) so I am not surprised.

To add to first day Metro fun, all of the C lines around 6:15-6:30 were running late – some as much as 10 mins.

I did ask Metro last week about the “improved reliability” language and on the second followup the language came down to, that meant changing the schedule to be, well, more reliable. Here’s hoping this is just a shakeout, but do let Metro know via e-mail or phone about specifics that you experienced …

Via e-mail Metro has informed me the #50 has returned service to Veterans Loop at the VA since March (checked again last week)but I still hike up the hill every time. My knees are bad but I feel for the less mobile veterans. I think there’s some communication lapses here as seems to be elsewhere.

This morning the #56 leaving Alki at 6am – usually on time – was 15 minutes late.

Sorry, comment time is over.
