Update: Seattle Fire response in The Junction; no fire

(Thanks to Aleda for sharing the photo)
8:20 PM: Seattle Fire crews are checking out a possible fire at 4700 42nd SW (the Jefferson Square office building). Nothing reported to have been found so far; they’re checking floor by floor.

8:24 PM: Still nothing found; much of the response is being dismissed.

8:58 PM: The call is now completely closed, meaning all SFD crews have left the scene.

Crickey! There were 4 trucks when I passed by about 10 minutes ago, passed another on Edmonds, and keep hearing more sirens. It’s a big call out for nothing!

If a possible fire is reported in a commercial/office/residential building of any kind, including a single-family house, SFD MUST send a “full response.” Lives could be lost if they wait to see what they find, and then have to summon/await more units. Sometimes, it turns out the report is unfounded, but there’s no way to know if they get a call from somebody saying they’re seeing/smelling smoke in a building …

Ack!Thanks SFD! There are people and pets in there! Glad to hear nothing really happened yet. Hoping it stays that way.
