2 days until Girl Scout Cookie sales in West Seattle (and beyond)

1:45 PM: If you’re a fan of Girl Scout Cookies and haven’t already procured them some other way, you should know that the official cookie-selling season begins Friday (February 27th). This year the online cookie-finder tool is at a different place – find it here – but works the same way: Put your zip code in the search box and you’ll get a list of cookie-selling locations, dates, and times. Earliest ones we’re seeing outside West Seattle businesses are at 2 pm Friday. If you’re involved with a local Girl Scout troop, by the way, we welcome info and photos related to your sale (maybe somebody has a photo from the cookie-pickup event?) – e-mail editor@westseattleblog.com – thanks and good luck!

ADDED 2:41 PM: Thanks to Cheryl for obliging with the photo we’ve added above, from this last year’s event in which troops from all over this area retrieve their cookies from a loading dock on West Marginal!

I saw some Girl Scouts out selling cookies yesterday on the NE corner of California and Thistle yesterday…they must have been ahead of the official season!

The listings are all for the “outside supermarket” type events rather than streetcorners – don’t know if there’s an official date for unofficial events but the ones in the cookiefinder database all start Friday.

Uh oh … they’re going to be at the supermarket that my afternoon bus stops right in front of. This will not end well for my pocketbook or my pants continuing to fit. Mmmm … Samoas …

how do we find out if they are selling the Gluten Free cookies in our area?

    • WSB February 25, 2015 (3:06 pm)

      I am asking!

The “Toffee-tastic” cookies are the only ones that are gluten free in our area. And the Thin Mints are now vegan (NOT gluten free) for those interested.

Gluten free cookies were in high demand and short supply. Our service unit decided to allocate 2 boxes per girl. Supply at booth sales will vary troop to troop. My gang still has half a case or a bit more available to sell. Troop 45362 will be at the Jefferson square Safeway from 2-4pm this Saturday, Feb 28. Hope to see some of you there!

Each year I walk up with the intention of buying one or two boxes of my favs (Samoas) then the girls start turning on the charm and cuteness and I can never seem to leave with less than a case.

Good thing there’s room in our chest-freezer!!!

Our Troop has a few boxes of the Toffee-Tastic cookies. They’re $5. The rest are still $4. We will be the troop in from of Key Bank on Friday! Also, a quick shout out to our Service Unit Leader(s)!! That picture up top is definitely not what happened this year! Life threw a curve ball and not only Leadership but all the families chipped in some elbow grease to make pick up (outside on a beautiful sunny day) pretty seamless to the later pick up times!

Before you buy Girl Scout Cookies please research the effects of Palm Oil production on the environment. Send a message to Girl Scouts that the use of Palm Oil in their products is unacceptable by not buying their cookies.
