Another fog-on-the-water morning today – will it end with another splashy sunset like last night? In the hours until we find out, here are a few highlights from the WSB West Seattle Event Calendar:

HIGHWAY 99 CLOSURE-CHANGES REMINDER: While the Alaskan Way Viaduct (etc.) closure for today is canceled – as announced last night – the SEPARATE closure immediately north, from the Battery St. Tunnel to Valley Street, is STILL in effect. Bottom line, if you head north on 99, you have to get off at Western.

MILES FOR MIDWIVES: This run/walk starting at 10 am in the south end of Lincoln Park raises awareness about, and funds for advocacy of, midwifery.

BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS: Bring your furry, feathered, scaled, etc. friend(s) to the West Seattle High School parking lot at 1 pm today for the annual blessings in honor of St. Francis of Assisi, administered by neighboring St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church. (3000 California SW)

WHAT’S ALOFT: Seattle Parks program at Lincoln Park beach – learn about birds, kites, and more, as explained in the calendar listing. 1 pm.

WEST SEATTLE COOKING CLUB: The theme for this meeting is apples – make a recipe featuring apples, bring it to share! Beveridge Place Pub, 3 pm. (6419 California SW)

REILLY AND MALONEY: The popular duo is back at Kenyon Hall tonight, 7 pm – ticket info here. (7908 35th SW)

More live music (afternoon AND evening) and other events on the calendar – what’s above is just a sampling – browse the full list for today/tonight and beyond by going here!
