TRAFFIC/TRANSIT TODAY: Friday updates

(East-facing camera on the West Seattle Bridge; see other cams on the WSB Traffic page)
7:06 AM: Nothing major on the usual routes from West Seattle this morning BUT if you are headed south on I-5, a huge pileup blocking northbound I-5 at mid-Boeing Field might affect things in terms of a lookyloo slowdown on the opposite side, if nothing else. It’s a 10-car crash that WSDOT says is already causing a 14-mile backup.

7:40 AM: As just noted in the comments, there is indeed some emergency-vehicle activity on the SOUTHBOUND side parallel with the massive crash scene.

7:55 AM: Now there is a SOUTHBOUND crash on I-5 in the same area, while on the northbound side, they’ve reopened two lanes.

8:41 AM: All of the above has been mostly cleared up.

What a dream commute to downtown this morning! Left Gatewood Hill at 7:04, Olive Way exit in 16 minutes. Yeah!

Looking for any info on spillover traffic like the 99 incident the other day. Trying to get to Boeing Field.

Tricky, KING just now showed an image that includes some emergency vehicles in one or two southbound lanes parallel with the crash response. Could be a factor for a while.

Google traffic is showing the 1st ave bridge looking bad. Guess I get to go hang out with the high bridge gang today.

I came through 1st Ave bridge/99 around 7:25-7:30ish and it was fine then. Maybe I got lucky (a nice change from Wednesday’s commute anyway)!

Fridays are usually easy peasy, with the exception of the disaster on I-5 this morning (boy am I glad I bus to work), but that shouldn’t take away from the reality of commutes M-Thur which can range from a slow grind to a nightmare.

Sorry, comment time is over.
