West Seattle traffic alert update: California/Fauntleroy signal fixed

4:30 PM: Don’t know yet if it’ll be solved quickly or not so quickly, but heads-up since we’re going into pm commute time – a WSB team member heading north on California toward Morgan Junction says the California/Fauntleroy intersection signal lights seem to be having trouble. Headed off to check.

5:45 PM: Apparently not so quickly – word via Twitter is, it’s still not working properly. Avoid the intersection TFN.

7:19 PM: Just went through – signal working, city crew still working on the cabinet.

Crossing the street was quite an adventure just now, some of the lights are turning green so it can’t even be treated as a four way stop. Walk lights aren’t working either so you kind of have to take a best guess on when you can cross abd hope you’re right.

A traffic cop is needed immediately. There is going to be an accident as the ferry unloads.

It was chaos getting through there @ 5:00, I don’t even want to know what it looks now.

Finally have two olive officers in site directing traffic.

Traffic cops are there but it is a super duper backed up mess in all directions. And when they finally let pedestrians go, they are walking all ways (junction style).

Cop there now. Not as bad.

Just re-read my comments, gotta love auto-correct which decided “police” was “olive”….

I thought this was fixed. Caused quite an issue a few months ago on several occasions.

Apparently I just missed this mess yesterday. Went south through this intersection at about 10 mins after 4pm yesterday and had no problems. Yay me. :)

I remember back in December this light was malfunctioning on multiple days. The DOT came to look at it and said there was some timing issue related to Rapid Ride, which the DOT fixed or disabled. 6 months later the light is on the fritz again?

Sorry, comment time is over.
