Presidential visit update: Off to the Eastside for the night

(Air Force One at Boeing Field, right after sunset)
5:54 PM: President Obama is now in Seattle and will soon be leaving Boeing Field, bound for Hunts Point on Lake Washington. Live TV pictures show that traffic is now stopped awaiting his motorcade. He has two fundraising events on the Eastside tonight, and then will be staying overnight (in Bellevue, according to KING 5) before Air Force One flies out tomorrow morning.

6:11 PM: Motorcade’s on the way to the Eastside, so any traffic effects here shouldn’t last much longer.

The funny thing is I kinda like the Sinegals.

Another visit by the president with “the little guys”. He sure doesn’t care much for “the 1%” unless of course they want to give him campaign money. I know, I know, “they all do it”. Whatever.

@JS: I suppose GW stopped-off at your place when he was fundraising a few years ago . . .

$4.2M from 18 donors. Quite a haul for a guy who cynically demonizes the rich.

  • Tuesday July 24, 2012 (8:49 pm)

Oh he doesn’t demonize ALL the rich… just the ones who don’t own him.

  • SuperAwesome July 24, 2012 (9:48 pm)

Oh for crying out loud. All candidates have to fundraise. I’m sure all of you that are complaining about this trip are for public financing for campaigns.

I hate the traffic too, then again, the opponent is a real champ.. *cough* http://finance.yahoo.com/blogs/daily-ticker/romney-fundraise-london-bankers-implicated-libor-scandal-160410445.html

bridge to somewhere and Superawesome are spot on. Money in politics is nothing new, and the Citizens United Supreme Court ruling, brought to you by a conservative, right-wing court, has done nothing but throw gasoline on the fire of corrupted “democracy”.
To suggest that President Obama is somehow out of line by playing the game necessary to win anything in politics at this level, in this perverted political arena, is gross hypocrisy.

Of course. It’s all GW’s fault. Everything is GW’s fault. But then again, I’m speaking of the original GW. As in George Washington.

I am going to borrow a Great line from today’s Seattle Times from the POTUS visit. “15 Trillion and counting- that is a lot of change.”

I would love to see a presidential hopeful stand up on a soap box and speak his piece! Run there campaign on as little money as possible. I don’t get why it seems the elections these days are basically, He who raises the most money wins! All that wasted money for what? Commercials slamming the other guys? Do people really listen to that crap?

  • bridge to somewhere July 25, 2012 (2:24 pm)

@bsmomma: Those presidential hopefuls did stand up on a soap box and speak their minds. +You just never heard them because they didn’t have any money and couldn’t advertise.

Just want to vent about being held on the WS Viaduct for 45 minutes yesterday. Couldn’t quite get off on the 4th Ave S ramp. Two women in the lane next to us exchanged insurance info after a small fander-bender. What a mess. Anyone know how long it took for traffic to thin out after the hold up was lifter and the President had passed on the freeway?

Sorry, comment time is over.
