Another police search: Driver walks away from Highland Park crash

Thanks to Pete for the tip on this (as well as an unsigned text message): Eastbound SW Holden should be open again at any time, since a tow truck was arriving at the scene where a white Jeep Cherokee crashed just east of 15th SW and blocked that side of the road. Its driver walked away (with a passenger, according to witnesses). No injuries reported.

More chaos from drivers on the rampage. When will the laws change to adequately address the cost towards life and property that habitual automobile users pose?

I’m thinking stolen car or drunk driver.

Ahhhhh…. Gotta Love White Center…. I once came upon a 2 car accident that had just happened…. both drivers fled the scene ? SPD were not quite sure what to do.

“C” ONCE AGAIN.., Highland Park is NOT White Center! Holden street is about 8 or 9 blks north of Roxbury, the city/county line. If the accident you were referring to happened in White Center, King Co. Sheriff’s would’ve responded, not SPD. get out a map, get a clue. All of us Highland Park-ites live in WEST SEATTLE! (and proud of it!) Otherwise we are in the wrong tax category also! I swear, if one more person calls us White Center…..! (sorry White Center.., I do love your resteraunts and stores, so I spend $$$ there!)

Yep! Plenty to love about White Center!
    Zippy’s
    Full Tilt
    Proletariat Pizza
    Uncle Mike’s BBQ
    Company (bar)
    Numerous Asian Restaurants and Markets
Numerous authentic Mexican Restaurants and Markets
    Locally/family owned McLendon Hardware
    Locally/family owned Bartell Drugs
    Etc
    Etc
    Etc
    And lastly Etc

    .

But, what the heck does White Center have to do with an incident that happened at 15th & Holden in West Seattle?

    .

    Mike

    And The Dollar Tree store!

Oops… I guess your right…. Anything E of 35th is in the danger zone anyway right ;> I was mistaken… the accident I came upon was @ Delridge & Trenton so look up the crime rate for white center/Highland park or what-eva-ya-wanna-call the area E of 35th…. & i’m sure they are not far off each other.

    • WSB February 22, 2012 (9:00 am)

No, it’s not the danger zone, any more than the west side of 35th. Example: The last three murders in West Seattle have taken place in Morgan Junction, Admiral, and Fauntleroy. – TR

We’ve never had so much as a broken window in the decade I’ve lived here, while friends in nice, safe Admiral were burglarized twice. So you tell me where the danger zone is.

Thanks Mike. So what the website shows me is that there is no difference in overall incidents of major crime between Highland Park and the Admiral District. Also, in terms of vehicle thefts, the north end of WS has a higher rate than HP.
Given that I live in HP and have a Seattle zip code and pay Seattle taxes on both my HP properties, it seems quite clear to me where I fall on the West Seattle map. As much as I’m rooting for WC and all its hard working, honest citizens I am tired of this strange bias as to whether WestWood or Highland Park is part of West Seattle.

Have lived in Highland Park 13 years. Love it.

  • datamuse February 23, 2012 (11:02 am)

Ditto what SideofBlueCheese said. I’ll be happy to consider Highland Park part of White Center when my property taxes are adjusted accordingly. ;)

  • ME February 23, 2012 (12:08 pm)

Ditto SideofBlueCheese and datamuse!!! And believe it or not there are really nice houses in places other then Alki and Admiral!! When people hear I live on the East side of 35th they shudder and say oh! isn’t the crime rate terrible? Sigh …
I don’t think any area is any better when it comes to crime …

Here is an interesting thing about violent crime, the current emergency that SPD has spoken of. I didn’t run the news release here because it was mostly targeting other areas, but I believe it’s linked on the Crime Watch page. Anyway, there are 19 incidents on the list (mostly shootings) around the city since January 1st, through this past Tuesday. Only one is in West Seattle – the Morgan Junction murder case. And regionally, it’s not just the cities – besides the trooper murder overnight, Poulsbo had a homicide, and there was a double-murder case further up the Olympic Peninsula (in which the suspect was eventually found dead). – TR

Sorry, comment time is over.
