West Seattle snow: New forecast out – might be snowy till Friday

The weather experts have warned that this is tricky to predict – but the National Weather Service is out with its 9:30 pm forecast discussion, and also mentions the “model” that suggests it could stay snowy in the city till Friday. Read it here. As for tonight/tomorrow, snow showers are still expected, the forecast says, and that could mean you get up to a little new snow on the ground.

  • SJ2 January 16, 2012 (10:20 pm)

Snow/rain mix near high point. Everything is melting.

  • Patrick January 16, 2012 (10:27 pm)

@ Dandelion and SJ2, Don’t worry about rain or rain/snow mix right now, that is due to orographic lift from the SW as the precip rotates around the LOW to our NW, once that low sags south of Ocean Shores, the flow turns northerly and we cool off VERY RAPIDLY!!!

  • SJ2 January 16, 2012 (10:28 pm)

Good! Thanks for the reassurance Patrick. :) I love snow!

  • Patrick January 16, 2012 (10:35 pm)

@ D1, the final outcome right now is prepare for heavy snow, cold temps and NO WARM-UP ( if any ) per the GFS, NAM, ECMWF, SREF, MM5 and GEM models.
And now it looks like we get another 6-10 inches on Thursday!!!
    ENJOY

Mostly rain here in Arbor heights. Nothing on the ground yet.

  • Velo_nut January 17, 2012 (5:15 am)

    Still raining at 5am.

This could be disastrous if the temp slams around 6-7. All of this will be ice with a layer of snow on top of it.

    I love the Northwest!
