West Seattle bus alert: Trouble downtown

If you’re waiting for someone to get home from downtown via bus – or waiting to get on a bus – there’s trouble downtown, according to multiple reports. Sharonn explained via e-mail, “The 21 bus broke down at 2nd and Columbia westbound stop. One bus at a time can load.” Another report via text says things *just* started moving again, so maybe the logjam is ending. Thanks for the update – traffic/bus info welcome any time (here’s how to reach us).

It took my bus 30 minutes to go from 3rd & Pike to the Columbia Street on-ramp. Tough commute tonight.

I’m at that stop now – no backup remains. Slow onto the viaduct, but that’s tyipcal since the lane squeeze.

That is now the craziest bus stop in town. They have configured the lanes to totally confuse the cars coming down Columbia – and the drivers southbound on 2nd just clog it up all the more. Then they give the buses the right of way – I’ve opted for I-5 now – until they open up an onramp to 1st avenue.

You meant to say, ride your wife’s bike like the mayor.

That 21 Express bus was stopped at 2nd & Columbia when I was at the stop at about 5:15. Buses were not backed up behind it though–they might have taken a couple minutes more to move out into traffic, but they were able to get out. I didn’t think there was much more backup than there has been since the viaduct lanes were reduced–except of course for people who needed the 21E to get home.

Sorry, comment time is over.
