The WSBeat: Anchor’s (almost) away; fast-food fit; more…

From reports on cases handled recently by Southwest Precinct officers:

*Last Sunday afternoon, a citizen called 911 to report that three people seemed to be in the process of stealing an anchor from a park along W. Marginal Way. Officers stopped the trio nearby and they did, indeed, have an anchor on a trailer. The Parks Department confirmed that no one had permission to take it. The anchor was returned to its original location. Two of the suspects were booked into King County Jail. The third was declined for medical reasons and was, instead, taken to Harborview.

*A man was unhappy with the food and service at an Admiral fast-food restaurant. He threw the bag of food at an employee and appeared to be ready to climb over the counter. The clerk returned the his money. Officers later found the man, who voluntarily returned to apologize.

Seven more summaries after the jump:

*A 25-year-old Delridge resident drove past an officer near 35th and Graham. The officer recognized the man and knew he was driving with a suspended license. When pulled over, the suspect tried to pass off another person’s ID as his own — likely because he knew he was wanted on a $50,000 felony warrant for domestic violence residential burglary. (The warrant also carried a hazard warning that the suspect was hostile to members of law enforcement.) He was booked into KCJ for driving without a license and for investigation of refusal to cooperate, as well as for the warrant. His friend in the front seat — who had been holding the suspect’s real ID though he had heard officers ask for it — was also booked, for investigation of obstruction.

*Last Saturday afternoon, a citizen called 911 to have officers retrieve an unopened safe she’d found in the bushes in the 3700 block of SW Cloverdale.

*Early Wednesday, in the 3200 block of 31st SW, a burglar alarm alerted the resident to the presence of an intruder. He found and detained a man whom he found lying face-down in the entryway floor. The unwelcome visitor had a large contusion on his forehead and was so intoxicated that he couldn’t tell officers how he got inside the house. Pools of blood covered the front porch, an outer sidewalk, and part of the home’s interior. The stranger was transported to Harborview for treatment. The homeowner did not want to press charges.

*Early Saturday, while on patrol, an officer encountered a man in the street at 16th and Holden yelling, “I can’t see! I can’t see! They’re after me!” As the man made his way into a convenience store, the officer called for backup and reiterated to the paranoid victim that he was there to help and to reassure him that he wasn’t in trouble. The victim threw down a package labeled “not for human consumption” and said, “That’s what I’ve been smoking.” As medics got to the scene, the victim began frothing at the mouth and taking off his clothing. While being taken to Harboriew, the victim kept saying he wanted news cameras there so that he could “get paid.” Although the news cameras weren’t there, one camera was — the incident was captured on the officer’s in-car video.

*On Monday, a couple with a domestic violence history added a new fracas to their list: The female half of the couple was shoved out of a moving car and showered with beer cans in the 6500 block of 16th SW. Her boyfriend was booked into King County jail for investigation of non-aggravated domestic violence assault.

*On Friday evening of last week, a woman came to the Alki area for dinner with a man she had met online. At the end of the evening, she had gone downstairs to catch a cab but realized she had left her glasses at his place. When she went back up to retrieve them, he held them up and said, “What, these glasses?” before he snapped them in two and shoved her to the ground. The woman hit her head on the ground during the assault. She thinks he was angry because she was unwilling to have sex with him.

*A man picked up a woman at 16th and Roxbury, and two came to a “business agreement” regarding her services. After taking her to an apartment, he wanted to purchase additional services that she didn’t want to provide. He slapped her face and pulled her hair. The victim grabbed her belongings and tried to run for the front door. He dragged her back toward the bed, but she spotted a baseball bat and hit the suspect in the face. She was able to escape and walk to a nearby gas station for assistance. Officers sent her to Harborview for an evaluation.

Maybe they were concerned citizens that just wanted to refurbish the anchor, you know like the totem pole. I don’t think they should be charged with anything as long as they give money to West Seattle Rotary.

Sorry, comment time is over.
