Both West Seattle High School and Chief Sealth International High School had home games tonight in Metro League tournament play. The Seahawks defeated Lakeside; close game for the Wildcats, but they were on the losing end. More after the jump:

First, from our partners at the Seattle Times: WSHS lost their second consecutive tournament game, a close one, to visiting Eastside Catholic. According to stats posted by the Times, leading scorers were West Seattle’s VIdal Griffin and Eastside’s Joey Schreiber, each with 15 points. (Note: The Times has the final score as 43-39; Eastside tweeted the final score as 41-38.)

Second, from WSB co-publisher Patrick Sand at Sealth:

Chief Sealth held Lakeside scoreless for the entire third quarter, which gave the Seahawks a 52-30 win. Sealth’s absolute control of the ball began in the middle of the second quarter and lasted until Sealth Coach Colin Slingsby rested his starters in the fourth. During that stretch Sealth’s Charlie Smith and Abdi Mohamed controlled the rebound under Lakeside’s basket. When Lakeside had the ball, they came up against the Seahawk defense, which twice forced turnovers as the shot clock ran out. Here’s one of those turnovers:

Sealth moves on to play Saturday at home against Eastside Catholic.
