Update: Garage fire on California Lane

(Fire and police units blocking the north end of California at California Lane)
If you saw/heard the sizable Seattle Fire Department response in North Admiral: WSB’s Christopher Boffoli says firefighters have tapped a garage fire in the 1000 block of California Lane (west of Hamilton Viewpoint – here’s a map). California is closed at that spot – the far north end – right now, but firefighters indicate it may not be closed much longer.

Damn, you guys are good — I heard the sirens, finished my grilled cheese sandwich, logged on and here it was. As I knew it would be.

    “There were SO many sirens”
    .
Every reported fire involving a detached garage, a shed, or a car fire with exposures (next to a building) receives a standard dispatch of:
    2 Fire Engines
    1 Ladder Truck
    1 Aid Car
    1 Battalion Chief
    .
In this instance, a third engine was requested- probably due to the limited availability of fire hydrants on California Ln SW.

Hey Jiggers. If your property ever catches fire, we’ll be sure to send a guy with two buckets of water and see how you like it.

My house caught on fire two winters ago and three fire trucks responded. I lived on 18th and Holden. The truck right next to my house accidentally went to a different address, the one that got to me first was from under the West Seattle bridge!!! I thought for sure my house was going to burn all the way down before they made it. It was the night of the super Blizard 4 days before Christmas. 2008 I think? It was so silent and still 4AM in the morn and everything was blanketed with brand new snow, I could hardly open my front door. I had to turn around to get my car keys and rain boots to put my kids in the car!!!

Anyhow, no cops and aid cars that night. Maybe because we lived in “the hood.” Just Joking.

    Wow Jiggers.

Maybe you’d like like to get back your taxes and watch your house burn like that sap in Tennessee when your number is up?

Sorry, comment time is over.
