As is usual this time of year and this time of the week, SDOT has gone public with its list of big events around the city. Included in this roundup, the American Legion Post 160-presented West Seattle Grand Parade, happening Saturday morning at 11 (check our coverage archive for all the newest previews, and past years’ coverage). Click ahead to see what else is happening where and when:

The next couple days, Friday, July 23 through Sunday, July 25, offer up the full range of summertime activities – festivals, music, Seafair community parades, fundraising and sports events. The Seattle Department of Transportation warns motorists that there will likely be traffic congestion accompanying the events and to plan accordingly. Drivers are encouraged to consider taking alternate modes of transportation – the Sounder commuter train, Link light rail, Metro Transit, carpool, bicycle or walk, if feasible. Please see the following schedule of events for areas where traffic will be impacted.

Friday, July 23:

Festival of the Fountains: 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. (Saturday)
Fundraiser for the Pacific Science Center;
550 estimated attendance
Event will close Second Avenue N between Denny Way and Thomas Street from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Capitol Hill Block Party: 3 p.m. – 12 midnight
5,200 expected
Event will close the following streets from 2 a.m. on Friday, July 23 to 5 a.m. on Monday, July 26: E Pike Street between Broadway and 12th Avenue; Tenth and 11th Avenue between E Pine Street and E Union Street.

Mariners versus the Boston Red Sox 7:10 p.m.
Safeco Field
41,000 attending
Expect congestion in the SODO area before and after the game.

Saturday, July 24

Capitol Hill Block Party: 1 p.m. – 12 midnight
5,200 expected
Event will close the following streets from 2 a.m. on Friday, July 23 to 5 a.m. on Monday, July 26: E Pike Street between Broadway and 12th Avenue; Tenth Avenue and 11th Avenue between E Pine Street and E Union Street.

Church of Scientology Seattle Grand Opening: 9 a.m. – 10 p.m.
1,500 attending
Event will close the following streets from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.: W Harrison Street between Elliott Avenue W and Second Avenue W; Third Avenue W between W Republican Street and W Thomas Street; Fourth Avenue W between W Republican Street and Elliott Avenue W.

The following streets will be closed for set up from 6 p.m. on Friday, July 23 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, July 24: W Harrison Street between Third and Fourth avenues W; Third Avenue W between E Republican Street and W Harrison Street; expect congestion in the area.

West Seattle American Legion Post 160 Grand Parade: 11 a.m.
3,100 + expected
Staging will begin at 8:30 a.m. on California Avenue SW between SW Admiral Way and SW Hanford Street.
Parade route: starts at California Avenue SW and SW Hanford Street; heads south on California to SW Edmunds Street; expect congestion in the neighborhood.

Mariners versus the Boston Red Sox 7:10 p.m.

Sunday, July 25

Capitol Hill Block Party: 1 – 9 p.m.

Event will close the following streets from 2 a.m. on Friday, July 23 to 5 a.m. on
Monday, July 26: E Pike Street between Broadway and 12th Avenue; Tenth Avenue and 11th Avenue between E Pine Street and E Union Street.

Chinatown Seafair Parade:
5,550 expected
Parade will start at 7 p.m.; staging will begin at 5 p.m. on S King Street between Eighth Avenue S and 12th Avenue S, and on Tenth Avenue S, between S Jackson and S Dearborn Street.

Parade route: starts at S Jackson Street and Tenth Avenue S; goes west on Jackson to Sixth Avenue S; south on Sixth to S King Street; east on King to Seventh Avenue S; south on Seventh to S Lane Street. Anticipate heavy traffic in the surrounding neighborhood.

2010 Swedish SummeRun: 8 a.m.
4,000 participants
8K run starts at 8 a.m.
5K run and walk start at 8:20 a.m.
Both races begin at Minor Avenue and Madison Street; 5K route: north on Minor to Seneca Street; east on Seneca to Union Street; east on Union to 12th Avenue; north on 12th to Aloha Street; west on Aloha to 11th Avenue; south on 11th to Howell Street; east on Howell to 12th; south on 12th to Union Street; west on Union to Seneca Street; west on Seneca to Minor Avenue; south on Minor to finish at Marion Street.

8K route: north on Minor to Seneca Street; east on Seneca to Union St; east on Union to 12th Avenue; north on 12th to Aloha Street; west on Aloha to Federal Avenue; north on Federal to Miller Street; east on Miller to 11th Avenue; north on 11th to Delmar Street; east on Delmar to Interlaken Avenue; south on Interlaken to Galer Street; west on Galer to 15th Avenue; south on 15th to Prospect Street; west on Prospect to 11th Avenue; south on 11th to Howell Street; east on Howell to 12th; south on 12th to Union Street; west on Union to Seneca Street; west on Seneca to Minor Avenue; south on Minor to finish at Marion Street.

Saint James Cathedral Parish Picnic: 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
