piratesouttosea.jpgNine days ago, we brought you the nautical tale of woe – Seafair Pirates facing the possibility of having to personally bankroll their popular July 10th Alki landing, because sponsors had pulled out. The Seafair Pirates have a long history of showing their love for the community and the love the community has returned to them is overwhelming. Festival Sponsor TOP Food & Drug named. Thanks to the entire community and Duke Moscrip

On Wed June 23 Duke Moscrip of Dukes Chowder house put out the call to help the Seafair Pirates fund the 61st annual Pirates Landing. The call was heard by the community and pledges came forth from the public. Meanwhile, the Northwest’s largest locally owned grocery chain heard that call. TOP Food & Drug agreed to become the Festival Sponsor for the 2010 Seafair Pirates Landing;. The ceremonial Kick – off to Seafair; the region’s largest summer festival.

Since revamping the landing and taking total control of producing the Pirates Landing, thousands have flocked to Alki see the annual tradition and usher in the start of the Summer season with a blast. The Seafair Pirates Landing is like the Pirates magazine, it is a standalone project. It is not funded by any source other than sponsorships or advertising dollars. In the event of any shortfall, no monies are used from the treasury or charitable purposes accounts. It is made up through an assessment of the members themselves.

Can’t wait to see this year’s booty. These pirates are great and this is one totally rad kid and grownup event. Worth going to see in the same vein that the Solstice Parade is worth going to see – the same is always new somehow. Thank you Duke and TOP and everyone else.
