And a not-so-mysterious materialization: Flamingos @ The Kenney

Second story in a row about something turning up in a local yard – this, however, is no mystery: The Admiral Congregational Church Youth Group is the latest local organization to engage in the festive practice of flamingo-flocking … and today, their “target” is The Kenney, who shared the photo. (CEO Kevin McFeely tells WSB that the birds are in honor of a resident who’s an Admiral UCC congregation member.) WSB contributor Keri DeTore also spotted the flock last week outside a home on California SW in Gatewood:

P.S. If you’re interested in flamingo flocking, the cost and details are now on the Admiral Church website – you can even order online – go here. You can also call the church office at 206-932-2928.

Now ya see, this is good clean fun. No damage, no worries, just a little summertime smile activity.

I bet the drop them off, let them mingle for about a day or so and the come back and pick’em up….

If I found my yard flocked with Pink Participants, I would be kewl with the flow of the universe.

There was an article in the Beachcomber a while ago about students on Vashon doing this as a fundraiser for their school. Not sure if it’s the same kind of thing, but it’s a cute idea and brings a smile to my face :)

    From the Beachcomber article:
“When the birds show up at a home, the resident is invited to call the school and pay to have them moved to a new location, presumably to someone who does not currently have enough flamingoes gracing his or her yard.

The going rate for bird removal and relocation, is $5 per bird. While the school hopes people will pay that amount, it is not necessary to pay at all, Royer said, and the birds will still be relocated after a week or so.”

    What a neat idea…

Furry Faces Foundation did it a few years ago. Definitely whimsical, whoever originally came up with the idea, likely many years and many miles ago …

I had to take a double take on the house. It’s at the top of California AVE. It made me smile.
The sign say’s “you have been flocked” I didn’t see if there was anything else on the sign.
