wswllicon3.pngAfter a fab Friday night (check out the All-Access Showcase at Youngstown Arts Center starting at 6 tonight), many great ways to celebrate spring (which arrives at 10:32 am our time Saturday) – there’s a plant sale, a meeting about the potential West Seattle Community Orchard, two spring cleanups (Delridge on Saturday and Highland Park on Sunday) … West Seattle Hi-Yu‘s Tea and Silent Auction is Saturday … this weekend we also have WSB sponsors with special events, both on Sunday: Free yoga at SoundYoga and a gold-buying event at Northwest Gold Exchange/938.GOLD, and ArtsWest is into the second weekend of “Sunlight” … From tonight through Sunday, more than SIXTY! events/activities on our list, sponsored by Skylark Cafe and Club, where you’ll find FREE live music and rockin’ food:

Nursery will have a spring native plant sale just west of the PCC on Saturday March 20th (as they have in the past) to benefit the West Seattle Backyard Wildlife Program. Last year’s sales resulted in the donation of over $400 worth of plants to the project along Alki. the sale will run from 10am to 5pm. The sale will be at the home of Rick and Brenda at 3225 47th Ave SW – follow the signs from CA and Admiral Way. Pre-orders can be called into Don Norman at 542-1275 and plants picked up on Saturday. SATURDAY MORNING: Come join the fun! We’ll pick up the trash around the playground and beyond depending on how many people participate.
When: March 20th from 10am-12pm
Where: Delridge Community Center Playground, 4501 Delridge Way S.W.
Why: With our new playground, and unusually warm weather this year, the playground and surrounding park is getting littered with trash. With budget cuts, the Parks Department is unable to keep it picked up regularly. The flower beds haven’t been weeded since the Playground Build Day last July, so if you have some gardening tools you can pull weeds too. Let’s work together and have fun! All ages are welcome. We’ll provide some coffee and hot chocolate to warm you up. Please dress appropriately for the weather. Prizes will be awarded – the very last chance to own a Heart Delridge Tee Shirt!
