Jade West Cafe followup: Fundraising event for Wong family

Thanks to Kathy for sending us this flyer, which she also plans to post on the door of the Jade West Café, closed since a drunk driver hit proprietor Wah Wong and his son Jason outside their Beacon Hill home almost 3 months ago: Friends have organized a fundraising lunch and silent auction next month, to help the family with expenses including medical bills – as just one example, the flyer mentions that a prosthetic leg for Jason, who lost part of one leg, could cost up to $50,000.

The benefit will be noon-4 pm April 11 at Perché No Pasta and Vino, 1319 North 49th (map). Tickets are $35 for a three-course meal, live music and the silent auction. They’re still taking donations for the silent auction, and also accepting contributions if you can’t attend the event but would like to help; call Chris at 206-227-7943 or Daniel at 206-409-9590. Kathy, who sent the flyer, says she’s hoping West Seattle businesses might consider contributing.

(Our archived coverage of the Wong family’s story, including last month’s sentencing of the drunk driver and West Seattleites’ outpouring of well-wishes after first news of the crash, can be read here, in reverse chronological order.)

This is GREAT news! Perche’ No is an AMAZING place to eat! Can’t wait.
One thing missing here..are we supposed to call one of those people to get tickets??

Good question. The flyer is all I have. I have sent a note to the only e-mail address I could read from the flyer PDF (which is why I put phone #’s here instead of e-mail) with a different followup question but will ask about tickets when I hear back. Kathy, who sent the flyer, isn’t an organizer; her daughter went to high school with Jason Wong and is still in touch, so that’s why they got the flyer, and she kindly thought more West Seattleites should know! – TR

I sent an email as well. Since it’s a 4 hr event..it might just be a ‘pay at the door’ kinda thing. Hopefully we’ll get more info (and repost everything right before the event!!).

Have you ever eaten at Perche’No? It’s fab!!

I see there is a silent auction. Can someone find a contact for the function if folks have items they would like to donate to the auction? I am CERTAIN (nudge nudge wink wink) other owners of West Seattle restaurants & business’ would like to show their support by donating gift certifcates! Let’s raise some more $$$$ plus it will be a tax write off!! Wah we ALL miss your cooking and your jokes!! Thank you

Foxy, the phone numbers I have listed in this story – which are also on the flyer, if you follow the link to see the whole thing – are the contact numbers for that too. I just heard back from Daniel, one of the contacts, and he said DEFINITELY they need more items for the silent auction and would LOVE to have West Seattle businesses chip in.

I hope that all of us that can will show support to this family.

Come on West Seattle let’s show this family how sorry we are for what has happened to them, at NO fault of their own and help them be able to rebuild their lives! Lives that are forever changed negatively…
