Two solicitor alerts to pass along – one from a local business, one from the city – read on:

Vivian at Sleepers In Seattle in The Junction e-mailed to share this:

We had a woman visit our store on Thursday who presented herself as a Sales Rep from Quill.com and gave her name as Veresa. However, she wanted us to set up an account through her cell phone, which seemed suspicious and we didn’t follow through with the order. I called Quill.com and was told their representatives are supposed to set up the account for customers to use online, not through a cell phone. She was in her late 20s or early 30s, straight brown hair, Caucasian, medium build, maybe 5’4″ish.

I wanted to pass this along in case anyone else had been approached by her.

A more general solicitor alert has been issued by the city, via the Department of Neighborhoods’ Front Porch website:

Periodically, the City receives reports of door-to-door solicitors misrepresenting who they are and possibly posing as a City employee. If someone comes to your home, be wary of anyone asking for personal information or money for the City or on behalf of the City. If they do, please call 911.
