The National Weather Service is just out with a new forecast – featuring multiple mentions of the word “snow,” possibly even flurries tomorrow, after one more clear, very cold night tonight, though the major mention involves the weekend. What a coincidence – it was also Christmas ship weekend LAST year when Snowpocalypse ’08 began. (P.S. – As reported earlier, there’s a burn ban in effect, so no wood fires unless they’re your main source of heat.)
I wish we would get another two week snow.. Thank goodness for a gas fireplace anyway.
My husband and I lived in the Yakima area during Snowpocalypse 2008. When talking to my mom in the Highland Park area, she would repeatedly tell me how bad everything was over here, how we shouldn’t even bother crossing the pass. I didn’t believe her- I thought the Seattle media was getting to her with their sensationalism, so we drove over anyways.
Needless to say, she was right. We finally believed her after we saw all of the cars snowed in with a wall of snow blocking them from leaving on Delridge. Crazy. Even Snoqualmie Pass wasn’t that bad!

When I was a kid I remember my Dad cursing as snow
was even mentioned in a weather report. He grew up in Newfoundland. It would snow so much that it would bury the house. He and his eight brothers had icicles hanging from their bedroom ceilings. My Grandfather would buy barrels of salt pork, flour and sugar. They would spend the winter around the wood burning stove in the kitchen. After last year’s snow, I’m starting to agree with him:-)
