West Seattle Christmas lights: Shining alongside The Bridge

Continuing our West Seattle Christmas lights showcase: If you drive the Fauntleroy side of the west end of The Bridge at night, you’ll notice several well-lit homes — including the one you see above in the 4000 block – this year, the row of houses looks brighter than ever. It’s a little tricky to reach – the turn is off 35th, north of where the main stretch of Fauntleroy becomes The Bridge – here’s a map. Got a brightly lit home or street to share with us and other West Seattle holiday-light lovers? Let us know – editor@westseattleblog.com. The archive of lights we’ve featured so far is here, including video of the Helmstetler Family’s set-to-music display by the Charlestown water tower and the Menashe Family home on Beach Drive, and homes from past years (this one, in fact, we showed two years ago – though you can tell there’ve been many additions!). Lots more holiday activities, sights and sounds on the West Seattle Holidays page (including the Christmas Ship schedule for this weekend!).

I would like to thank the sweet young man who held onto my 91-year-old mother in front of Menashes last night while I maneuvered my truck close enough to the curb to get her back into it. I had not anticipated getting out of the vehicle to look at the lights, but we did. She was entralled. He left his family standing by while he helped us.

He is one of so many reasons West Seattle is home.

these homes make us smile ever time we “commute” off WS freeway every night. thanks for sharing your creativity and holiday spirit. In the midst of so much sadness around us right now, sometimes it just take a little effort to “see the light”! :O)

I’m gonna follow up on a previous posting a week ago. I always hate back tracking because it makes me look stupid but I feel it makes me a better person when I do it.

Earlier I mentioned that the Menashe house seemed way over the top and the time and money could have gone to help others instead of just some display of lights.

and this is where I’d like to say I backtrack.

The wife and I took a drive down beach drive after the Tree Lighting at the Junction and we stopped to get out and take a look. The owner was outside making sure the train was still running, asking folks how their evening was going and pretty much he lit up the place more than his lights.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I stand corrected.

    I’ll shut my yap now.
