For your Halloween calendar: 1 more trick-or-treat time set

The business-district trick-or-treat trifecta for West Seattle is now locked in – as noted in the past week or so, the Admiral District will be handing out treats 3-6 pm Friday 10/30, The Junction will welcome trick-or-treaters 1-3 pm Saturday 10/31, and Westwood Village manager Stuart Crandall has just announced their trick-or-treat session will be 4-7 pm 10/31. It’s all on the WSB Events calendar now in case you lose track and want to check back!

So the kiddies (and not so little) can go get their sugar high in the junction and then continue it at WWV.

Why is it exactly the Junction streets can close for street fair and a car show but not for 2 hours when little kids are running around? How about at least blocking off parking on California? Seriously, am I the first or only person to consider the inherent safety risks involved? Will it take one death or serious injury for changes to be made? This is an easy fix to make a great event not only more enjoyable but safe!

I’m just guessing here, but I think Junction streets are closed for the street fair and a car show because the street fair and the car show are in the street. Inviting kids into the businesses to enjoy some trick or treating is not a license to let kids run around. It’s fun, and my two-year old will certainly be there, but I don’t think it’s necessary or appropriate to shut down the streets so my daughter can walk on the sidewalk from business to business for an hour. Everyone should drive with extra care on Halloween, and I’m sure the drivers in the Junction will do just that.

Sorry, comment time is over.
