Door-to-door alert, or Crime Watch? Arbor Heights sighting

From Arbor Heights, Suzanne e-mails to share this story – solicitor, or caser? Read on:

Just wanted to write to you to report some suspicious activity we witnessed today in Arbor Heights (34th ave SW and 102nd). Someone rang my doorbell twice and as soon as I was at the door checking the peephole, he was walking away from the house. Assuming he left something at the door, I opened it to find nothing. I watched him as he walked briskly down the street, pausing slightly to look up a driveway here and there, but not approaching any other homes.

My mother followed him in her car and observed him knocking on a few doors and then leaving immediately. As he walked up to the house and back he was peeking into the car windows in the driveway! It appears that he was checking out cars, maybe to return later for a breakin? So keep your car doors locked and take out the valuables. By the way my mom gave him the evil eye….maybe she scared him into staying away:)

He was a tall, young African American man (in 20’s), well dressed, and carrying a clipboard.

Remember, police say this over and over again: If you see something suspicious happening, do NOT hesitate to call 911.

I’m sorry, but these reports are getting creepy – “my mother followed him in her car”??
    .
Next up: Someone secretly follows a couple of Jehovah’s Witnesses home, then stakes out their house for a week.
    .
I doubt hoodlums are getting dressed up to do their casing, but if they are, the economy must be looking up.

-Michael, lay off the booze! However, I really recommend keeping mom inside and calling 911 instead of giving him eyes from the car. I’m sure he was terrified. He probably decided, you’re next then, why else would u give me eyes.

We live in N. Admiral and for the past two nights someone rang our doorbell and disappeared. First night it rang twice (in one hour) second night it rang three times (in two hours). Lateish–like after 8, so not the usual time for door to door solicitors.

We’re in Arbor Heights too. Penguin Windows had a big crew of young people with cliboards working the neighborhood most of the day/evening. They weren’t going to every door, maybe only where they thought they could sell windows. Perhaps he was one of them.
