Re-striping tomorrow for West Seattle Bridge (+ 35th, and more)

If you drove The Bridge late yesterday, no doubt you noticed the re-striping work wasn’t all done. And indeed, there’s more ahead – plus 35th and Fauntleroy as soon as the city can get to it – according to this citywide update just in from SDOT:

SDOT traffic crews will continue painting missing lane lines on the city’s major arterial streets during the next several weeks, until the high priority work is completed. SDOT crews are replacing only lane lines that were severely distressed following the recent spell of snow, and are giving priority to streets and bridges with the highest volume of traffic.

Yesterday the crews worked on the West Seattle Bridge. Today they are working in the north end of Seattle, and plan to return to the Aurora Bridge in the afternoon, once it is warmer, to complete work begun on Wednesday. On Saturday between the hours of 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. they plan to continue working on the West Seattle Bridge and hopefully also Fauntleroy and 35th Avenue SW. On Sunday the crews plan to work on streets in Downtown Seattle. These plans are subject to change, depending on weather and work progress.

Each morning a decision will be made on whether or not the conditions are adequate for striping. Dry pavement is required, and it can’t be too cold. There will be a slow, “rolling closure” of the lane in which the crews are working as they progress down the roadway. Drivers are asked to please leave plenty of space between them and the work vehicles, and to obey the signs—please don’t drive over wet paint!

The top priorities for replacing missing lane lines are the following streets:
● Aurora Bridge,
● West Seattle Bridge,
● 35th Avenue SW,
● 15th Avenue NW north to Holman Road NW,
● Just north of the 16th Avenue S (South Park) Bridge,
● 12th Avenue S (Jose Rizal) Bridge, and
● First Avenue SW from S Cloverdale to Olson Place SW (after crossing the First Avenue South Bridge, off of SR509, on the way up the hill to White Center).

There are other high priority, major arterial streets around the city with missing lane lines in addition to these that crews will also re-stripe.

Thank goodness they are finally doing that, driving on the West Seattle bridge at night, especially in the rain, is pretty much just a guessing game at this point.

I wonder when they (Pilchuck?) are going to RE-PAVE on 35th (around Barton) after the months of construction. The road is horrible, and unsafe.
And when will they remove the signs that are littering our sidewalks?

We reported an update on that a couple days ago. The restoration work will follow when the gas line work is done – starting in about two weeks, according to PSE.
