West Seattle Crime Watch: Delridge search; twice-stolen car

In West Seattle Crime Watch – a police search right now in North Delridge. According to the scanner, a 911 caller reported a man with a handgun firing one shot into the air and then heading northbound in the alley between Delridge/25th, near the library. The description that’s being broadcast is black male, 14-15, 6′, thin, dark heavy jacket, dark pants. He was said to be in the company of someone described only as a black female in a purple sweatshirt. They might also be associated with a gold or green vehicle headed southbound. No injuries reported; police are checking for property damage. If you see anyone/anything possibly related, call 911.

(ADDED 3:06 PM: We were in the area around 2:30 pm checking on the search; no lights-flashing police still at the scene but cars were visible patroling several nearby blocks.)

(back to original report) Also in Crime Watch:

TWICE-STOLEN CAR: Amanda‘s car has been stolen for the second time in less than a month, sometime between midnight and 11 this morning. Gold 1994 Honda Accord, stolen from the 900 block of SW Holden. Let police know if you find it.

is this still in pursuit? Have kids walking home from bus and will pick them up if this is still going on. I have seen the police all around. Thanks WSB!

It seems this rash of armed activity in the past week or so is being perpetrated by teenagers. Does SPD think there is some sort of connection?

I saw two police cars and officers on Delridge Ave in front of Boren school around 1:15pm today. Was that related to the patrol?

AR, I don’t think it happened that early – we published the first version of this at 1:51 pm, as time-stamped, and I think that was at most a 15-minute lag while we tried to make some sense of what we were hearing in order to write the item …

Hey Amanda, sorry to hear about your car. I was in a similar situation this September — my ’94 Nissan was stolen, even though it had a club on the wheel.
You might try beefing up the security — every year, Hondas are on the “most stolen” list. When I got my car back, I had a kill-switch alarm installed (if someone tries to start the car without disengaging the alarm via remote, it kills the engine). The alarm system was about $300 from Super Stereo Warehouse in north Seattle, I think the brand was Viper.

Good luck! Hope you get your car back.

Sorry, comment time is over.
