That’s unfortunate.
That’s right on my daily cycling route.
Hopefully everyone is ok.

ditto Michael, hope everyone involved will be ok.

That was a frightening scene. The many people that lived nearby came out to help, which was very kind. Best wishes to the man on the bike, whose name I was not able to catch in the mess of things.

Any news? Our hearts go out to both the cyclist and the driver.

Without knowing the bike rider’s name, we have no way to even try to check on their condition … we can only hope a friend or family member might see this and provide an update at some point, as so often happens with stories like these … TR

We do have an update thanks to Kyle Moore of SFD: Rider got out of hospital last nite and picked up his bike at a fire station.

Any info on what caused the accident, or how to prevent the next? I can tell you the turn from Murray onto Lincoln Park Way can be rather deceptive–the road uphill may look clear, but vehicles parked along the north streetside can conceal an oncoming car or bike in the curve.

That information has to come from Seattle Police; the bicyclist was reported to have hit a car, is all they have. I haven’t checked back with police yet – but I will if I can find the incident number. – TR

I think our friend was involved in the same type of accident there a couple years ago. By the time she’d pulled out far enough to see the entire street, a cyclist was cartwheeling across her hood.

I hope the incident has been reported on BikeWise (http://www.bikewise.org). It is run by Cascade, and SDOT monitors this site for issues with bike infrastructure safety.
Wishing for a speedy recovery for the injured person and that they get right back out there on a bike!
