Extra West Seattle Water Taxi runs for the big football games

Announced by the county this afternoon:

The King County Water Taxi’s West Seattle route will be running its extended sailing schedules for this Thursday’s Seahawks game on August 30 and for Saturday’s Huskies game on September 1. In addition to the final scheduled departure at downtown Seattle’s Pier 50 at 10:30 pm, we will run one additional departure from Pier 50 at 11:00 pm each night. The final two departures from Seacrest Park those nights will be at 10:45 pm and 11:10 pm.

And does the blue bus shuttle also run? My family took water taxi back from mariners game once to find no shuttle running.lucky we live in Alki are fit enough fur the couple mile walk home (now a great family memory)

Although this is applauadable, 11pm won’t really catch the late crowd for a 7:30 kickoff. Most college games are 3 1/2 hours plus exit time. The early birds may crush that sailing, another one after that would be helpful.

I’ve been wanting to take the Water Taxi to games, but the ones I’ve been to lately have had the later start times that put the end dangerously close to the last sailing. Do they hold out for the games or do extra runs if people are still at the dock? I live in the High Point area so I’d have to park near the Water Taxi, if I missed the last one would I be SOL having to get off a bus near Spokane St and walking all the way back to the dock? The 21 schedule gets pretty sparse after games too, so I’ve walked home around 11pm from the Morgan Junction as a last ditch to get out of downtown after Mariners/Sounders this summer.

Sorry, comment time is over.
