Congratulations to Roxhill Elementary’s successful ‘Sport Stackers’!

Thanks to Chellie at Roxhill Elementary School for sharing the news (and the photo):

Sixteen first through fifth grade students (and one parent!) from Roxhill Elementary School competed in the NW Regional Sport Stacking Tournament in Auburn. This was our school’s first representation at the tournament. We had a blast. The day began early with preliminary rounds where students tested their skill in three different stacking events. After lunch we learned which of us would go on to the finals. We were happy that five students and our competing parent moved on to the finals and brought home medals. It was a terrific event that we will be attending again next year. We are proud of all of our stackers. Great job!

My 1st grader, Diego, was a part of this team and was a team member that medaled in 2 events :) It was such a positive experience for him! It’s a long story, but, believe me, this was huge for him. Thank you, Ms. Lafayette and Roxhill for the amazing work you do with your students. I am grateful from the bottom of my heart!

Congrats also to our neighbors from Schmitz Park Elementary who also had a contingent of stackers at the tournament. It was fun to be at this event with stackers from Idaho, Oregon, California, and Canada and to see a “Schmitz Park” sign in the crowd.

Thanks for mentioning Schmitz Park, RD – I hadn’t even heard of this tournament till the note from Roxhill arrived in the mailbox, but as always, we extend a warm invitation to ALL West Seattle-area schools to let us know about their achievements so we can share the news widely! (And that includes sharing info in advance so we can come cover it ourselves if possible, as well as reports about something that’s already happened.) – editor@westseattleblog.com any time … TR

KOMOs Eric’s Little Heros did a great video segment that featured the Schmitz Park Team. http://auburn.komonews.com/news/sports-recreation/728934-little-heroes-mind-blowing-blur-plastic-and-fingers

Much thanks to the awesome stacking coaches, Ms, Chellie and Ms. Michelle, you make Roxhill fun and academic! As the lone parent competitor from Roxhill, I just have to say, I had a blast! works wonders for the old hand eye coordination thingy. The kids were rock stars. Also, shout out to Roxhill PTA and Schmitz Park PTA for sponsoring the teams.

Sorry, comment time is over.
