Update: Woman hit by bus in South Delridge, but not seriously hurt

8:41 PM: Avoid 15th/Delridge/Roxbury for a while – police and fire are responding to the scene of some kind of accident. It was originally reported as “a woman trapped under a bus” but first units on the scene corrected that to say no one is trapped. However, police are closing off the area while they investigate.

9:02 PM UPDATE: WSB contributor Deanie Schwarz is at the scene. She says the woman is believed to have been hit by the bus but is not believed to have major injuries. Her top photo shows investigators looking under the bus after the woman had already been moved for medical attention.

9:17 PM UPDATE: Deanie says the bus has been towed and the roads have reopened. (This was in the intersection by the former Game Stop on the corner with the Roxbury Walgreens.)

It sure looked like a whole lot more with police cars parked sideways blocking off access from Roxbury & 16th in both directions a block away from the accident! Hope everyone is ok.

Reb – that’s because it originally went out as a “heavy rescue” response, with the first report that the woman was trapped under the bus, meaning it might have required a major rescue effort. Luckily that turned out not to be the case, and most of the units were canceled. If you scroll down the daily “live fire 911” page to 8:31 pm

      .
you’ll see all the units they initially dispatch when a call is classified “heavy rescue”! Some of them come from outside West Seattle (if you are ever heading eastbound on the bridge and you see several big SFD units heading westbound, it’s a clue something big is reported over here) … TR

My mom is being discharged from Harborview tonight. No broken bones or internal injuries that we’re aware of at this point, but she does have a concussion and other various injuries.
As much as I’m thankful for her health and survival, I’m that much more frustrated at all the aggressive drivers. Metro drivers and regular drivers.
Please take this as a lesson to slow down and watch for pedestrians, especially when they have the “walk”.
    Thank you.

Glad to know your mom is ok C. BUT OH MY GOSH!!! It’s the same bus that almost hit me the day before! I am not kidding! Oct 21st. Bus number 7058 and route 128. 6PM. I was on Califoria ave crossing Fauntleroy. The “walk” sign was on and as I was halfway crossing Fauntleroy, the bus made a right turn, (towards fauntleroy) without stopping and almost hit me! My face was inches from the bus. I was able to see the bus drivers face. His face was surprised when he finally saw me as he was making a turn. And he mouthed “I’m sorry” I wonder if it’s the same bus driver. And if it is, this guy better not be working for Metro anymore! He was in his 50s. White hair and wears glasses.

As I look at these photos. It also looks like, she got hit while he was making a turn!!!!

I already made a report to Metro the day I almost got hit. I am interested in what they have to say.

Sorry, comment time is over.
