Poppy is still missing!! Please help look for her. She is very shy and afraid to approach people. She is most likely hiding in shaded bushes or heavily covered areas like greenbelts.
Friend of Poppy here with a reported sighting – Poppy was seen snagged on a fence by her leash at 7 am yesterday at 49th and Charleston. She got loose before the spotter could grab her
Update!! Poppy still missing!!!Scent narrowed down to Schmitz park preserve and surrounding streets. Please keep an eye out and check any security cameras if you live in the area!! If you see her please contact me immediately, and do not chase her as she will bolt away.
I will look for her today at Schmitz park. Is she afraid of dogs? Wondering if I should bring my dog or leave her at home.
I recommend bringing your dog. I fostered one of her brothers for ~ 6 months. Based on my experience with him and the rest of the litter when they spent time socializing at the Rescue, she’s much more likely to approach a dog than an unfamiliar human. If you see her call or text her people and “play it cool” if she approaches your dog. Trying to catch her is likely to scare her. But she might stay near or follow your dog.
We have been looking for her since Sunday. We’re the people you talked to on the street with our own dog at 8am – we looked for Poppy for a half an hour right after we talked to you, then again for another hour and a half later in the afternoon – and on every walk thereafter. Hang in there Marissa, we’re pulling for you and Poppy!
POPPY IS STILL MISSING AS OF TUESDAY 8/26 6PM WHILE ITS LIKELY SHE IS STILL IN OR AROUND THE SCHMITZ PARK PRESERVE AREA SHE XOULD HAVE ALSO MOVED FURTHER AWAY. PLEASE!!! CHECK ALL GARAGES, BUSHES, GREENBELTS, FOLIAGE AREAS, ETC. Poppy loves to hide in bushes and den like areas. She does not make much noise. She still may have her red leash attached. while I have a large support group helping, Poppy needs all the help she can get to get back home safely. She is just a puppy and has been alone lost since Sunday morning. Please help!!!
So glad we could help Poppy get home to you!!FOUND on 53rd just north of Charlestown at about 10pm!!
POPPY IS FOUND. Shes beat up with some scraped and worn paw pads and not to mention hungry. But she’s ok. She was found tonight at around 9pm by two wonderful humans named Ella and Bella who live nearby. They saw her wandering down 53 & Charleston and were able to grab her leash. Thank you so much to everyone who helped search, took a flier, answered their door, posted about her, or hung up posters. Jim from three retrievers lost pet rescue who came out with his dog at 5am to help narrow down the search was more than awesome. My friends are amazing, they wandered around for hours and miles in the heat, putting up posters or walking through the area, driving down every alley and dead end. Volunteers from Poppy’s rescue, resilient hearts, came out and spent hours walking the park. Poppy’s littermates families came out to see if they could help. Poppy’s best dog friend and human spent all day wandering to see if she would come to them. Random Internet humans offered amazing advice or even helped look. Thank you.
This is wonderful news, I bet Poppy has a story to tell her littermates!
Very happy for you Marissa. Please be kind and remove all the missing signs and posters throughout this area. I’ve removed about 10 on Hudson and Dawson, but I know they extend all the way to Schmitz park where I spent 2 hours looking for Poppy 2 days ago, with binoculars in tow. If the aren’t removed, people will still think she’s missing. Also it frees up space for others who have lost their precious pets.Thank you!
