Profile
Busgirl, factory seamstress, frontline cannery worker, waitress, pizza counter cashier, motel housekeeper, quadriplegic aide, retail store cashier/sales person, bartender, lifeguard, Avon sales, American Red Cross volunteer, Sunday school teacher, preschool aide, preschool teacher, elementary school teacher, tutor, waitress, Girl Scout leader/camp volunteer, personal housekeeper, Meals-on-Wheels driver, ESL teacher, spouse support group treasurer, squadron Ombudsman. I've cleaned your tables, taken your orders, mixed your drinks, delivered meals to your grandma who can't get to the grocery store anymore, taught your children about Jesus, taken your daughter and her friends to GS camp/activities after meeting weekly with them for 12 years, changed your baby's diaper, cleaned your home, made your pizza, taught new and not-so-new immigrants English, cared for your sister while her husband was deployed to Iraq, ensured the safety of your children while they were swimming, performed personal care for your friend who is paralyzed due to a hang-gliding accident, worked 8 hour days in front of an industrial sewing machine making some funky clothes you bought at NameThat Store, spent nights, weekends & holidays preparing curriculum that reaches and teaches all of your kids and enjoyed it, cooked and delivered meals to your recently widowed aunt, experienced the indescribable loss of both parents and a big brother, and I'm probably missing something...oh, my partner of 30 years who has stood by me and our children as we all walked this bumpy road named Life. This all to say that all of these jobs, some paid, some volunteer, and all the people with whom I have the joy (or not) of sharing my life have helped create who I am, what I believe, what makes me cry, what makes me angry.
