CaitParticipantGo Canucks Go! Any other West Seattle folk have a favorite place to watch the game? I only know of The Wingdome and the Brewery that have been showing the game, but I wanted to know what other options were out there.
I apologize to any Westwood fans that could hear me screaming during the game this evening… But WOOHOO!!

jwwsParticipantGame’s always on at our house – go Canucks and GO B’s!!! (OK I’m a displaced MA person) – Canucks & Bruins for Stanley Cup what could be better?
BTW martinis, grilled pancetta wrapped sea scallops and arugula salad with the game…who needs to go anywhere else???
May 20, 2011 at 5:12 am #724649
CaitParticipantJWWS… I think we need a Canucks Fans Of West Seattle Support Group! And I’m thinking you’re right about the Bruins. I think we’ll take ’em though. The Sedins have finally showed up to the post season so I’m feeling hopeful…

I WonderMemberNumber of seconds before someone takes out Eager: 5.

WSSpartanParticipantRocksport in the Junction always has the game on. The TV there is HUGE too. GO CANUCKS!

jwwsParticipantCait
WTF!!! Ok only 1st period but I seriously thought Canucks would sweep – Luongo’s reverting to his bad habits from last series )- holding good thoughts – still lots of hockey time (until the B’s meet them). ;-)
Tonight’s entree: Eggplant parmesan over linguini and hockey, hockey, hockey (not eggplant over hockey)
OK we’re going to at least 5….

CaitParticipantWe ended up at EBB tonight and JWWS, couldn’t agree more. The Sharks were out there playing some dirty hockey and it was unbecoming, but we were lucky to stop the bleeding when we did. They just wore Luongo down, and we all know how he gets when it’s 2-0 or worse, he tends to just shut down. When he’s good he’s great but when he slips, he falls hard.
I was hoping for a sweep too, BUT if the Canucks can lock down the series back in Vancouver, I think that’s a plus. I’m practically using voodoo to ensure that they use Schneider on Sunday – what’re you thinking about that?
Eager is just terrible! But I think it’s obviously the way that the coaches are teaching them to play though. Thornton’s ridiculous taunting of Kes makes me think that they’re playing scared and they’re trying to take key players out either by penalty time or injury… and that ain’t right.
I hate watching those polite Sedins getting shoved around too. You can tell they are fish outta water with this cut-throat stuff…
May 21, 2011 at 3:03 pm #724654
jwwsParticipantCait,
I think the Canucks will pull it out – it’s only 1 game and they almost climbed back in – just too little too late. I think they’ll probably stick with Luongo and as far as the “politeness” vs.”dirty” playing goes well it is hockey!!
Go B’s!!!
May 21, 2011 at 5:26 pm #724655
I WonderMemberVancouver will be happy with a split, and then bring it home. It’ll be interesting to see if game 4 is called tighter, some reckless checking going on. Tim Thomas is looking hot for the B’s, if they make the final, it’ll be a good one (against VAN). Of course, having last years Cup winner in net wouldn’t hurt either (Niemi w/CHI). I hope somehow this translates to the NW and builds momentum for a local team some day *sigh*
May 21, 2011 at 11:47 pm #724656
CaitParticipantI Wonder – wouldn’t that be awesome!
May 22, 2011 at 5:33 am #724657
bigmarkMemberIt’s nice to see that there are some other Canucks fans out there! Huge game tomorrow. I’m hoping the refs do a better job than they have for the last two games, and that with the early start Luongo doesn’t get injured. I’d actually be in favor of starting Schneider, although I can’t imagine that happening. Let’s see some discipline and a bit of killer instinct from the Canucks tomorrow, and try to wrap this series up earlier than we’ve been able to so far.

CaitParticipant3 goals in 1:55!! That was AMAZING!
May 23, 2011 at 4:29 am #724659
jwwsParticipantCait,
I agree BUT (and I’m showing my age here) I remember the 70’s and the B’s vs (albeit new) Canucks – 3 in 20 seconds…A slice of history..
“Ed Westfall won the Stanley Cup with the Boston Bruins in 1970 and 1972. He earned an assist on Bobby Orr’s famous Stanley Cup-winning goal in 1970 and also scored the second of the three fastest goals in NHL history, when the Bruins scored three goals in 20 seconds in a 1971 game with the Vancouver Canucks”
Gotta hope it’s Bruins and Canucks for the final – Canucks seem to have a lock – holding out hope for my B’s who sat on their lead yesterday and learned the sad consequences….
May 23, 2011 at 5:43 am #724660
CaitParticipantI’m definitely hoping for Canucks vs. Bruins too – that’ll be a good one!
May 23, 2011 at 10:01 pm #724661
I WonderMemberThis VAN team is certainly enjoyable to watch. Great passing angles, quick and fast. Hoping they end their Cup quest with a victory this time, they have been oh so close before. Going back to the Broduer days here. Of course, I was a Totems fan one day long ago too :)
May 24, 2011 at 4:17 am #724662
jwwsParticipantOK – it was not pretty but B’s pulled it out (thank you Tim Thomas – who wears Gerry Cheevers #30 – why is this not retired?? – another ? – (see “behind the mask”) – but what a great goalie to honor the #30!). I’m still holding out hopes for B’s vs Canucks!!!
Oh yeah and go Canucks tomorrow – end it!
May 24, 2011 at 5:18 am #724663
CaitParticipantThey’re gonna stick a fork in it for sure! I make a habit of posting ridiculous “Chuck Norris Facts” style statements on Facebook during games but about Roberto Luongo to keep his morale up. So far it’s been working! Very few of them are appropriate for WSB Forums lol.
I’m just excited to watch some edge-of-your-seat hockey tomorrow… GO CANUCKS GO!
May 25, 2011 at 4:20 am #724664
CaitParticipantI AM DYING OVER HERE!!! AAAAAAAAH!!! Double overtime?!?!?!
May 25, 2011 at 5:01 am #724665
GinaParticipantCan they finish it up on Thursday?
May 25, 2011 at 5:23 am #724666
CaitParticipantLooks like they decided to finish it up tonight! Kevin Bieksa is a winner no matter how Don Cherry pronounces his name!
May 25, 2011 at 4:16 pm #724667
bigmarkMemberBIEKSA!!!! That was a crazy goal, but after all of the weird behind the net goals that have been scored against us, it’s about time we got a lucky one!
3 down, 1 to go.
May 25, 2011 at 4:29 pm #724668
AndyParticipantI would go on about how they never should have gotten to OT because that icing call was bogus, but then I would have to cop to all the penalties the sharks got away with in OT. Kind of a bummer of a way for it all to go down, especially the game winner, but I didn’t really have a dog in that fight, so at least it was pretty darn good hockey all around.
May 27, 2011 at 7:45 am #724669
NenaMemberAlso a Canucks fan in West Seattle… been looking for places that show the games, so it’s good to know there’s a couple. Not that my schedule allows me to try to catch them very often.
I was fortunate enough to go to Tuesday’s game. The partying in downtown Vancouver afterwards was amazing.
May 28, 2011 at 3:44 am #724670
jwwsParticipantOK Cait here we go! Great Game 7 for East Finals!!! Did we predict it or what?
.
B’s and Canucks – awesome!! Although I’ve been a Canucks fan for the 20+ years I’ve lived in PNW – I was born and raised in B’ town (think Bobby Orr/Phil Esposito/Derek Sanderson era) so my heart is with the B’s but no matter who wins – I can’t lose!
.
Seattle needs a hockey franchise!!!
May 28, 2011 at 7:32 pm #724671
GinaParticipantLooks like the first game in the finals will be broadcast on the CBC at 4:30 on Wednesday the 8th. I am expecting Don Cherry to be over the top, times 2!
