    TUTOR. GUIDE. INSPIRE.

    VOLUNTEER DETAILS:
    Programming is taking place online using the Zoom platform due to COVID-19 at this time. In person opportunities will be available as soon as health and safety permits. We anticipate there may be limited opportunities for in person volunteering during this summer or next Fall for those interested.

    Summer Program will run from July 6th to August 12th, with sessions taking place from early afternoon to evening. Our Summer Learning Program is a fun program geared towards extending and enriching the students’ learning during the summer break. Our program this summer will be adapting online, and will feature diverse activities at each of our 6 centers. We are in need of support specifically for our High Point Center, located near Neighborhood House in West Seattle.

    Programming is hosted Monday to Thursdays. Times will be between the hours of 1PM to 6PM, and we ask volunteers to commit to at least one hour per week.

    QUALIFICATIONS
    -Age 14 years or older
    -High School Diploma, or Current High School Students welcome
    -Knowledge of basic reading, writing, and math skills

    – Ability to work with youth in a kind, respectful, and caring manner
    -Desire to motivate and inspire youth
    -Effective communication skills and patience
    -Proficiency in written and spoken English

    BENEFITS AND TRAINING
    -Gain satisfaction from positively impacting students academically and personally
    -An orientation is required prior to your placement at a tutoring center.
    -Free tutor trainings to improve your skills are offered
    -Work with staff and other motivated volunteers in a group setting
    -Volunteers are also asked to review the Seattle Tutoring Coalition New Tutor Training
