Would appreciate info on your experience with vegetarian restaurants near West Seattle Thanks in advance.

As a vegetarian, I can eat at most places in West Seattle. Even places where you might expect just burgers and other meat, like the brewery, you’ll find a good veggie burger.

Believe it or not, if you’re willing to drive into Georgetown (not too far) there is a great vegetarian restaurant and bar called the Georgetown Liquor Company.

I believe that Chaco Canyon in the Triangle area would definitely fit that bill.

-Great roasted veggie pizza at Red Star (takeout only).

-Decent veggie/vegan/raw at Chaco Canyon (oriental dishes seem tastiest, juices are excellent but pricey).

-Delightful Thai veggie dishes to be had at Buddha Ruksa (some of the best Thai in the city, good prices, nice atmosphere).

-Great Indian veggie options at Maharaja.

-The guys at Fresh Bistro will modify many of their recipes if you ask (one of the best banh mi sandwiches I’ve ever tasted).

-Some good stuff at Lee’s as well (eggplant).

-Good options at PCC (there’s a small eating area but we usually take out).

We need a killer veggie restaurant here in WS. Thanks for starting this thread! Will be curious to see what other readers share.

My favorite eats in West Seattle as a vegan are:

    Chaco Canyon (of course)

Elliott Bay Brewery (Braised Tofu Sandwich or Hoppin’ Hummus)

    Kamei Japanese

    Lee’s Asian (Lots of dishes)

    Pho Aroma

Zeek’s Pizza (veggie Thai- without cheese for me)

    El Chupacabra on Alki

    Tacos Guaymas

    Buddha Ruksa

And I hear the new Irish Place – A Terrible Beauty – has some vegetarian stuff, but I haven’t tried it yet.

Also, I’m anxiously awaiting the opening of Pan Africa Grill on California. Does anyone have any updates?

And if anyone would like to open a Gordito’s or a falafel place, I’d be really happy – hint hint

LesleyB – Good news! There’s a falafel place coming to the Admiral junction – right near the the bagel shop. I’ve only driven by so I don’t know any details.

The falafel place MsG refers to is Mawadda Cafe–like the one in Rainier Valley. The Blog did a story on it a ways back that specifies they’ll be serving vegetarian dishes:

Porterhouse has a couple of good veggie options – a field roast sandwich that is delicious (although needs to be put on a smaller roll) and their veggie burger is good.

Luna Park Cafe also has a number of field roast items on the menu. The only true vegetarian restaurant though in WS is Chaco Canyon which is actually all vegan (with the exception of the cow’s milk option for drinks). Meanders has quite a number of vegetarian options on their menu, and even one vegan one.
