JoBParticipantthose BCs all run together for me:(
but dawson has a good point. thee is nothing to stop internet providers from selling us the internet on a tiered system.
they already do.. tying it to bandwidth.

hammerheadParticipantI won’t get into the politics of things but this is what is going on in my business. I am self employed. I own a housecleaning business and by the grace of god I have picked up business. Now I have posted 2 craig’s list ads out in 2 months I got NOTHING. Either they were just applying to apply, I did pay enough, or they didn’t speak english. So while I understand some have physical issues, and the MOST frustrating part is that most don’t want to scrub a toilet. Especially when one was making 20,000 or more. I understand pride plays a big part. Then I have to worry about them finding a better job and again I am right back to square one.
I hired a guy(cousin), some of my clients have asked me NOT to bring a man into their house. I have to respect that, then I look like I am discriminating if I say the “wrong” thing. I have to do what I need to do, I am desperate, hopefully the clients understand.
So I still wonder what people are really willing to do to get “some” work.

redblackParticipanthooper: your independence is duly noted.
all i’m saying is that you have chosen a “side” that only wants you for your ability to pay bills and have a decent credit score.
it’s high time to figure out where your best interests lie, and not the best interests of those who might or might not deign to give you a crappy job with no benefits – or the lowest-paying subcontract they can get away with – no matter how much experience and work ethic you have.
you have nothing in common with the top 2%. stop helping them loot you.
