Specifically for infants, and if they have the option of 3/4/5 days per week. I’ve left a message, just curious if anyone has the info handy. Thanks!

I called a while back and they told me they had a 2 year waiting list.

I talked with them a couple months ago. Sounds like a great program for people who need or want full-day childcare – there is no half day – you pay full-day no matter if your child is there four hours or ten.Expensive, too, if I recall correctly: somewhere upwards of $600/mo for three days per week.

we have two kids there. The 2008-2009 rates for babies are:

    5 days = $1366/mo

    4 days = $1195/mo

    3 days = S1024/mo

    2 days = $683/mo

    1 day = $341/mo

There is a waitlist, as is the case with all good day care facilities. But many families have been effected by the economy and have cutback or will no longer need a spot if they are on a waitlist. Thus, I wouldn’t put a lot of weight on where you are at on a waitlist, you never know how it shakes out.

Excellent, thank you very much!! I actually find those rates quite reasonable considering my research. Full day is our goal, but I do appreciate they breakdown by days as I believe we will only need 4 days per week.

I am not even DUE until September, and won’t need care until February 1st. But I intend to get on the waitlist (early assuming there is no fee) and attend the July 8th tour, which I believe is the next one.

When I called a ways back, there waiting list was closed. The YMCA has childcare too. I’ve been on there waiting list for 2+ years with no luck.:( It is very hard to find child carein West Seattle! I did get lucky and found an AMAZING place. I am dreading looking for a school….. Good Luck!

My suggestion about the Mount is to go and talk to the folks who run the place. They’ll give you the information you need about whether you might be in a feasible situation as far February is concerned. Marie Hoover is the head honcho.

Yes, the rates might give you sticker shock at first. But if you tour other daycare facilities (particularly downtown) you’ll see lower quality programs with rates that are a lot higher. I toured about a dozen daycare facilities and, after doing so, the Mount started to look like a bargain. Do get on the waitlist, tour lots of day cares to get a sense of the options, and like Melissa said talk to the head honcho.

Holy crap! I don’t even have kids but apparently I should start saving up for their day care.

It’s not even so much the “saving up” part, its also the “find an opening” thats the eye opener. For good day care, about 1 year wait or more might be the norm. We are also at the Mount and feel very fortunate to have such an outstanding program and teachers. We waited on the list for almost 2 years (after we had delivered, and then gotten over the wait shock). It was well worth it and we have two children in the program. Once one is in, you will get preference for the second, third, etc. The rates decrease as the child gets older, and meals are included (good meals too, not just a sack lunch, a nice bonus). And the intergenerational mix with the seniors there is awesome.

I’ve been saving up for Daycare for 3 years (since I got married) – tell me about it! My husband thought I was crazy – but surprise, now he thinks I’m a genius. :)

Yes, I will take the next tour (which is May 13th, not July – phew!) and then likely get on the wait list then for February. I’ve heard great things about Growing Years as well – though their lack of web presences seems strange. I’ll check them out too. Thank you all so much for your help!!
