try Illusions. I have curly hair, and it is the one place I have found that can deal with it!

Vain in Belltown as a couple great people who do curly hair (and they have curly hair). I go to Liza.

    Their website is: http://www.vain.com/

After many years of searching, I’m finally happy!!

Kathleen at Sublime! She is great and my hair is CURLY! They are at 4th and Cedar, but parking is usually easy at meters.

I have two people in mind. One is my friend Roseanne at ETC on California Ave 937-1409. My sister who cut hair for a long time was very picky in whom she would let do her hair would let Roseanne do hers. The other is my sister-in-law Janet who works at Coupe Rokei on First Ave in Downtown. I have curly hair and she cuts and colors my hair and has been doing it for years. I have no idea what she charges as we are family and I get the benefit of her expertise for low cost. The salon is http://www.couperokei.com phone is 443-4646. The gentleman who co-owns it is a West Seattle man.

I know this is an old thread, but I just wanted to second Liza at vain. She is soooooo great. She has curly hair herself and is just great. I would drive hours for a hair cut from her. She also is a color genius, and has excellent training. She can cut a beautiful vidal sassoon bob (one of the hardest cuts to do). I can’t say enough good things about her. At vain the cut is a little pricey, but you get a free trim at 3-4 weeks that makes the cut last a lot longer. I wouldn’t let another person in Seattle cut my hair after having found her.

I’ve been seeing Monique at Shanti for a few years now and she is fantastic! Very experienced with curly hair and fun too! They are a few blocks away from Blockbuster (Admiral) and their # is (206)932-5988

If you decide to try Illusions, be sure to take use their free consultation. That’s when you can talk to someone about exactly what you want and they can even point you at the stylist who specializes. (I have thick, naturally bent hair…and they even understood that!)

I’m just thinking how great would be a merger between “Vain” and “Illusions” — I’d go to a shop called Vain Illusions without question!

Looks like I’m the third one to rave about Liza at VAIN! I have been going to her for about six years, and she is the best. Once, I had a nightmare that she quit VAIN and no one could tell me where she went. :-O Yes, she’s *that* good.

I actually go to the same stylist for over 10 years now and she isn’t specialized in cutting curly hair, but I like how she cuts mine. Also you can find useful information here: http://curlyhairspot.com

Sam at Vain is both amazing with curly hair and utterly delightful to boot. I can’t say enough good things about her AND she works out of the West Seattle Vain location 3 or so times a week, which is so convenient.
