CarsonParticipantI can’t think of a weaker opponent than anti-choice, anti-family Dino Rossi!! Please Dino, as a Liberal, I am begging you to run!!
May 24, 2010 at 7:42 pm #695158
clark5080ParticipantIf he s so weak why does he poll better then Patti?
May 24, 2010 at 7:46 pm #695159
CarsonParticipantPoll better? Only one Poll matters, in Nov and if I am Patty Murray, I would take Dino over the others in the race so far, all with far less baggage than Dino. I can’t wait until the first time he is asked a tough question and comes back with “I am not running on that issue”, priceless!!!
May 24, 2010 at 8:26 pm #695160
flowerpetalMemberWhich poll has Rossi in the lead? Ellway and Rasmussen polls have Murray ahead. Even if you add in the one poll that I could find which showed Rossi in the lead (Survey USA) and combined all three results, Murray would still win using a Monte Carlo analysis.
May 24, 2010 at 8:28 pm #695161
clark5080ParticipantWe will see it will be interesting. Patty has a few things to answer as far as her recent votes go. I think it might just be a little closer than you seem to think. But it definitely will be an interesting campaign to watch.
May 24, 2010 at 8:28 pm #695162
KBearParticipantLet’s not forget that this is a statewide election, and Dino very nearly became our governor the last time he ran for office.
May 24, 2010 at 8:32 pm #695163
CarsonParticipantLast time Dino had his hat handed to him, you call that close?
May 24, 2010 at 8:48 pm #695164
flowerpetalMemberRossi lost by 194,614 votes. The final tally was Greogorie 1,598,738 to Rossi’s 1,404,124.
Here’s your hat sir. The door is that way!
May 24, 2010 at 9:02 pm #695165
KBearParticipantYou’re right. I was thinking of the 2004 election. I stand by the first part of my statement, though. There’s a lot of Washington outside of Seattle and King County, and a lot of anti-incumbent sentiment. I would not assume Murray’s seat is safe.
May 24, 2010 at 9:26 pm #695166
CarsonParticipantKBear, I would not assume its safe either, my point is Dino is not new, not fresh, just another white guy who is out of the mainstream! So many options, why Dino? And if he does declare it will be fun to watch him lose, again!
May 24, 2010 at 9:32 pm #695167
flowerpetalMemberSo Carson, when you say in the same post that you would not assume its (Murray’s reelection) is safe but then you say “it will be fun to watch him lose” isn’t that an assumption.
I certainly do not want to see Rossi win that seat; and I think it is dangerous to make statements about him losing. Am I missing something?
May 24, 2010 at 9:37 pm #695168
CarsonParticipantRossi hasn’t declared, so thats an assumption. If he does run, with the current top 2 system, he will be running against Murray. I would actually love to see someone new in office, all offices, but Rossi is not new and he is most certainly not better.
May 24, 2010 at 9:45 pm #695169
JanSParticipantThe Repubs in this state are a little ticked at Rossi for not making a decision, I understand. They say that the more he waits, the less chance of having a good (if that even exists) viable candidate to run, if he decides no at some point.
The fact that he seems to be their “great white hope” disturbs me a bit, I guess. Is that all they’ve got? I don’t particularly like Mr. Rossi…I think he’s too slick and sleazy…and it scares me to think that this state could give him power like that.
May 24, 2010 at 9:45 pm #695170
KBearParticipantIt’s hard for the Republicans to find good candidates. As long as they choose to be the party of right wingnuts, they gotta pick somebody who’ll get the votes from that demographic, but is not too wingnutty to win.
May 25, 2010 at 1:16 am #695171
dawsonctParticipantThis may actually be one area where I would support some sort of ‘three strikes’ law.
May 25, 2010 at 9:26 am #695172
HMC RichParticipantGreat White Hope? Jan? Why? You are better than that.
Rasmussen has Rossi and Murray in a dead heat. Elway has Murray far ahead.
Dino will most likely declare this week.
Start sharpening your Alinsky claws. Let the beatings begin.
May 25, 2010 at 5:05 pm #695173
JanSParticipantso, Rich, substitute the word “savior” for “Great white hope”…it was a matter of just not choosing words wisely, I guess.
May 25, 2010 at 5:07 pm #695174
dawsonctParticipantOf course, at this point in just about ANY campaign, you can count on a couple of things with polls: they are usually fairly close this far out, and they are almost entirely unreliable once the campaigning begins.
—
Of course, DR being part of the deregulatory wing of the Republican Party, and with the ongoing nightmare of industrial self-regulation playing out in the Gulf, he will need to come up with another message to appeal to voters.
May 25, 2010 at 5:22 pm #695175
GenHillOneParticipant“slick and sleazy” is exactly the sense I had when meeting DR well before his political endeavors. I’ve never been able to shake that creepy impression of him – you know, that feeling you just get? – and I had no idea of his political leanings/beliefs/platform at the time. Blech.
May 25, 2010 at 6:25 pm #695176
JoBParticipanti hope dino runs. he brings out democrats:)
May 25, 2010 at 6:36 pm #695177
maplesyrupParticipantSusan Hutchinson was ahead in the polls for a while too.
I’ll wait until the election is closer before putting faith in any polls.
May 25, 2010 at 7:09 pm #695178
clark5080Participantone thing you are overlooking is it seems that there might be a backlash against any incumbent both D’s and R’s
May 25, 2010 at 7:19 pm #695179
CarsonParticipantClark, you are right and that was part of my point. Dino is hardly an outsider, just the same old same old. By Dino entering the race it all but assures he and Murray are the final 2. In that case, he won’t stand a chance where as a true outsider and newcomer might. I would love fresh ideas, just not a Tea Bag idea!! (read:Didier)
May 26, 2010 at 12:41 am #695180
dawsonctParticipantI’m wondering as well what impact Dider will have. He’s got Sarah behind him, don’cha know?
May 26, 2010 at 1:06 am #695181
Genesee HillParticipantDino Rossi, indeed! If nothing else, the name reminds me of a very fast car, or, a really cheap bottle of wine…
