Anybody have good ideas for an Arborist or Tree Service firm? Have a couple of big trees that need to be removed or trimmed. Thanks.

Try Grun Tree Care. I’m a retired arborist and have found their work to be excellent. Hopefully these trees can be preserved.

It’s been 5 years, but family member used Evergreen tree service for their WS home. There were several trees needing topping as they were blocking their view. NOTE: Family went through and got permits from the city-which included a statement from a certified arborist. Evergreen would not cut anything until permits were in hand.

Glad they got a permit, but too bad they didn’t operate as responsible arborists. Trees should NEVER be topped, and a view is one of the poorest excuses to do so. Trees ARE a view.

Trelstad Tree has always been a responsible and reliable Tree Company. You can always get a reliable company to come out and give you an estimate.

A tree IS a view, no tree should be topped unless there is an extremely good reason…view is never one of them.

To anonyme’s issue. They’ve lived in their home over 60 years. The trees have been topped MANY MANY times. They keep growing back because they’re healthy. Topping has done NO damage to them. Sorry, it’ true. AND, as long as they’re paying taxes on their view-NOT the trees they’ll preserve their territorial view.

I stand by my comment, which is based on education – not anecdotes. Topping is not only ugly, it directly affects the health of trees. The growth that does come back consists mostly of water sprouts, which are weak and susceptible to damage and disease. This must be a very extensive property, or on a very steep slope, that the tops of trees on the same lot obstruct the view.

If anyone is still looking, text Justin at Treeworks, 206-356-5111. He’s an owner/operator and helped me understand why I got quotes ranging for $750 to >$7000 when I needed several trees trimmed.
