Jen: Do you mean in-home wall-to-wall carpet cleaning? Or Persian-style rugs that you can drop off?

After my incontinent grumpy old cat went to that litterbox in the sky I rolled up my 5’x7′ hand-knotted wool classic agra design rug, and dropped it off at Leathercare/Prestige at 901 Elliott Avenue W. This was five years ago so I don’t have any recollection of the cost. But they did a fantastic job getting out both the stains and the smell.

With two long-haired cats and frequent furballs, it’s about time for another cleaning – would be interested to know if Corrys on California does rugs and if anyone has experience with them.

Jen, if you are looking for an inexpensive place to drop off basic rugs try the dry cleaner on 35th and Roxbury. It only costs about $25 a rug and they are ready in about a week.

I like Emmanuel’s down on S. Rainier Blvd. They did a great job with some fairly delicate Moroccan rugs I brought them last year.

how are they price-wise? I called Emerald City cleaners and they quoted me $140. I am wondering if that is standard – or if I would just be better off renting a cleaner from Home Depot?

Though the price may not end up being the most competitive, I do have to give a thumbs-up for Emerald City. They did a fantastic job on my rug (5×8 for $75).

Unfortunately, it was so nice not having a cat-pee-scented living room, that I never unrolled the rug again. It’s tied up, leaning in a corner of my office, smelling fresh and new.

And for the record, the rented Home Depot rug cleaners were not as effective as professional cleaning.
