I am looking to hire a morning assistant/cook for my at-home-family childcare. Ideally this person will work alongside our other three teachers to welcome the children in the morning. Then they will focus on cooking breakfast, preparing lunch and afternoon snacks. This assistant will also shop for food, prepare menus, and engage a couple of children one to two times a week in a baking or cooking projects. There may also be an option to assist with weekly field-trips. This position is approximately 13-15 hours a week, ideally starting at 8:00 AM, M-F, but we may ask for occasional extra help if another staff member is out or for special events.

Our childcare is very committed to creating welcoming and safe environments for our curious babies, toddlers and preschoolers to learn and grow. Our staff is well trained and experienced in the field. We encourage exploration, free choice, and positive interactions for our children.

We are looking for someone who is interested in answering the question: Why?, open to cuddling a baby, wanting to crawl on the floor to build with blocks, enjoys reading books aloud with animated voices, and can sing, even if off key, about being a little teapot. This specific position will require an individual with organization and planning skills to create the menu, under the direction of our head teacher. Also, a successful candidate would enjoy cooking and keeping a clean kitchen. The person in this position does not need to have any specific experiences working in a formal childcare setting.

As with all employees at childcares, this staff member will need to undergo a background check, be tested for TB, take a CPR/First Aid class, Food Handlers Card, and do various other training. We participate in the Early Achievers program and our employees qualify for a scholarship program for associates and bachelors degrees in Early Childhood Development. We are located by California Ave SW and SW Charlestown St. Please email me at hellovichansen (at) hotmail.com
