cjboffoliParticipantI was really surprised and delighted with the work done by Alki Fence. (They’re actually in Kent). I was admittedly wary when their bid was thousands below the others. What some were quoting as a $4,000-$6,000 job the guys at Alki said they could do for $1,800. The guy who initially bid the job was a bit of a challenge to communicate with too as English was clearly his second language. You should try to ask for Duke. In the end they did a fantastic job. The build-quality was excellent with all sorts of details I did not expect (poured concrete, champfered edges, etc.) They did leave a tiny bit of debris (scraps and nails) so their clean-up could have been better. But I would definitely use them again. They were excellent.

beachdrivegirlParticipantWe are in the process of working with Alki fence on our new fence. We worked specifically with Duke. My understanding is that Duke is currently the only guy doing quotes.

MargLMemberWe had our fence done by James at West Seattle Fence earlier this year. Not sure what his schedule is like now but I know he was pretty darn busy. He’s a great guy, does quality work and we’re happy with our new fence! Once he got started it went up very quick, he was considerate of my 2-year-old’s nap time and easy to work with. If you search for ‘fence’ on the forums you’ll find other posters with the same raves.

cjboffoliParticipantfrogman: I’m really surprised to hear that. All of the cedar and other materials they used for our fence was top notch. We’ve got a modern house and are pretty meticulous about clean lines and details. The Alki Fence is solid.

IrukandjiParticipantWe had our fence built by Jon Forgays 729-6869. VERY pleased with the outcome of fence and custom gates. He has also installed copper gutters and flagstone path around the house. Send your e-mail and I can forward pictures. The fence is now 3+ years old and is still beautiful.

KevinParticipantNot a WS company, but we had “All City Fence” install a chain link fence for us about 7 years ago. They also do wood fences. Not cheap, but VERY good workmanship and customer service.

LisaParticipantFrogman, When we need a new fence it was hard to find a good local company. We did find & used a WS company: Devonshire Landscapes, Inc. 206-762-1993. Will Anstey, owner was just wonderful to work with. He did a custom fence for us in 2008. http://www.devonshirelandscapes.com Good luck!
