Tonight while walking around the shore walk by Colman Pool, I noticed a flashing buoy offshore that I had not seen (or noticed before). It appeared to be 400 yards offshore to the north. If you stand where the shoreline trail and the trail that takes you closer to the bluff meet and look toward Bainbridge Island you will see it.
.
I look out at the water constantly while walking and the “new” flashing light caught my attention so close to shore. It’s not one of those big navigation buoys, but it’s a smaller one.
.
I even stopped some dog walkers to compare memories and they had been discussing it as well. One of the dog walkers thought she had seen something in the WSB. I did find this article from almost a year ago. https://westseattleblog.com/2013/07/oh-buoy-king-countys-new-water-quality-monitor-off-lincoln-park/ (Not sure if this link will work.) But this article describes what we saw.
.
However, I have been walking that trail all winter and didn’t really notice it until tonight. I am wondering if it’s the same buoy and has been out there all winter, or was it recently put back in place?
Thanks, ~z
