Im getting married May 30th 2009 and i need to find a reception hall that can hold about 150 people give or take, and we are looking at serving alchol. We have been turned down by both eagles clubs, Alki masonic temple is booked, and most community centers need a very big insurance deposit for alcohol. We are on a pretty tight budget any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

Try the Youngstown Culteral Arts Center on Delridge (used to be Cooper School). They are very accomodating and reasonably priced.

Have you tried the American Legion or VFW Halls? What about the International Association of Machiniest (boeing machinist) hall in South Park. When my brother was married he had his reception at their old hall in Georgetown. We also used the old YWCA now Bella Norte (I think thats the name) on 40th and Edmonds for a reception. What about a bed and breakfast type place that would have a nice yard. I attended a reception at a place just off Erskine Way that was the old German Consulate. They used the yard but also had use of the house.

I know the West Seattle Golf Course has a banquet hall – our church had to rent it out recently for an event. Don’t know how many it holds though.

We had a lovely reception at Camp Long a couple of years ago. They have lots of parking and I think it was only a couple of hundred dollars, they allow alcohol as well.

    Congrats btw!

Also try Hiland Park Improvement club. They can accmodate that size, alcohol is OK and I remember that the rates were very good.

The Alki Beach house is amazing! Its run by Seattle Parks Dept and has gorgeous views of the beach, sound and Olympics. Its not the fanciest venue, but the scenery is fantastic and not that expensive. We used it for a party, and won’t hesitate to do it again. Not sure exact capacity but might come close to 150.

The skate center in White center has had a few weddings there. It is really cheap, allows booze, and can hold like 600 people.

What about Arts West? Have you talked to Husky’s or what about coffee to a tea? Since they work with brides they might be able to recommend places.

Tuxedo & Tennis Shoes catering is wonderful at The Hall at Fauntleroy, which is beautiful.

We also used the lodge at Camp Long, and had a great reception at Kenyon Hall.

Take a look at the Sea-Tac Community Center:

    http://www.ci.seatac.wa.us/park/nspcc.htm

We held my in-laws’ 50th Anniversary Party there with about 150 folks and it was perfect. You can hire your own caterer (has a big kitchen for on-site prep), haul in your own drinks, no alcohol restrictions, has a separate entrance from the rest of the building. Reasonably priced. Not fancy, but is a new facility in great condition. Worth a look.

Also, there is the new Duwamish longhouse on West Marginal Way. It just opened last week, so not sure if they are taking outside events yet. Looks like a beautiful building.

We looked into The Alki Beach House-already booked in August, but it also neede big insurance for alcohol. Try Discovery Park-Daybreak Star Cultural Center. My fiance says is very nice. Not owned by the Seattle Parks.

Fourteen years ago, my husband and I used the Dome Room in Arctic Building on 3rd and Cherry. http://www.arcticclubhotel.com/pages/meetings_events_weddings/index.html (I have been told that the Dome Room was used for the New York, New Year’s party scene in the movie Sleepless in Seattle.) It is a historically significant building that is full of beautiful architecture of an era long gone! http://www.nps.gov/history/Nr/travel/seattle/s22.htm

You can honeymoon or lodge your guests there, as it reopened in Jan 2008 as a hotel. LOVELY! We had also checked into the Chinese Room at the Smith Tower, (since I am half Chinese and I love old historically significant buildings)but since they were very limiting on the number of people on the floor, including staff, etc, we couldn’t use them. http://www.chineseroom.com/rates.html Our estimated guest list was approx 125-150 people also! I don’t know if the the banquet hall at the Chinese garden at South Seattle Community College will be done yet, it is all so very beautiful! Best of Luck and don’t forget to ENJOY your day, and have A LOT of pictures taken!
