    New to Seattle.

Moving to Arbor Heights area around 107th & 39th street.

Noticed crime reports for west seattle.

Is crime high in west seattle?

Is the area I want to live in safe?

Thank-You in advance for any advice…..great support from the community!

dj….I don’t think that West Seattle has any more crime than the rest of the city. Arbor Heights is a good place to live. I have a good friend who lives on 110th near 37th, and it’s a fine neighborhood. Get to know your neighbors, make sure that there’s a block watch, look out for each other, be a visible presence, and you’ll be fine, I think…and read the West Seattle Blog, of course.:) And when you get settled (or not yet settled – lol), come to one of our meet-ups…we’re probably gonna have another in 2 or 3 weeks…we get together (this time at Big Al’s Brewery in White Center) periodically. We’ll have a potluck, and support a couple of local charities that need it. We have fun…see the thread titled Forum Get together :)

and welcome to the best community in the world :)

My brother and his wife have lived in Arbor Heights for for about 20 years. They have a nice place and know their neighbors and take care of their place. They have never had a problem and even say they would have Mom and I live near them if we ever moved. So just because you might hear a crime report its no different then other areas of town. As Jan says get to know you neighbors and take care of yourself. Welcome to West Seattle.

I live just outside Arbor Heights but my son goes to school in Arbor Heights and I drive him daily. It’s a very nice community. I see parents walking their children to school and kids out playing. No sidewalks is the only disadvantage but there are lots of other areas in Seattle with no sidewalks. If you have children they could walk to school (if you went to public school). It’s a nice neighborhood school/community.
