JiggersMemberI have to vent here because if you read the paper the last 24 hrs, the top story online, with a video clip provided by the Seattle Times of a beating between two ethnic young girls in the Metro tunnel. 3 Metro security guards was shown standing right over the girl beating another girl to a pulp and just standing there not even attempting to stop her from kicking her in the head. Metro says it’s going to review its policy about intervening when incidents happen. LOLLOLLOLLOL..I wouldn’t intervene if I was an: Underpaid security cop, especially unarmed not able to carry a loaded service revolver, not an experienced person in the MMA art of fighting, well you know my point. Metro is fooling itself if they think those security guards in bright green will risk themselves with gangstas. Currently they are only there to observe, take notes, and move people along if they are breaking Metro’s “Rules Of Conduct” policy. Not be real cop. Half of Metro security I see in Seattle are jokes. Sorry if you don’t agree with my view.

They hid behind the policy. Anyone else with a conscience would have intervened, even if it meant losing their shitty job.

JanSParticipantmaplesyrup, agreed. Why don’t we just do away with those jobs anyway, if they’re just there for show. Would save a bit of money, I think. Don’t these guys have a conscience?

mullyMemberKC should renegotiate the contract with a company that has security agents that can actually get paid to do something about this kind of thing. They could probably hire 1 decent, capable security guard and pay them less than what they pay 3 guards who aren’t doing much.

JanSParticipantwell, I just heard (on KIRO news) that there are now armed King County deputies in the tunnel tonight. Wonder if this will be a permanent thing.

nuniMemberI listened to the charging papers read on the radio yesterday and it says the police didn’t do anything either. They had the ability to do something before the security guards could (because the girls were initially harassed while shopping at Macy’s) and didn’t because they didn’t want to deal with problem teenagers.

JiggersMemberIt’s so sad that putting them there now thinking it will have any affect after the fact that the incident has happened and seen on the news. It will cost Metro and us tax-payers more money to train hundreds of security guards now in how to intervene correctly. A lot of these so called watch dogs still won’t have nothing to do with physically getting involve because I don’t think some of them can even or won’t get physical when needed to still. They are there just to collect a paycheck without having to intervene.
